The paramedics on estadio Azul should be ashamed of themselves for having a terrible plan of action in case some gets hurt like Ventura. The ambulance took a very long time to arrive and the golf cart wasn't working. Essentially what he is saying is that Estadio Azul should improve their safety precautions.

So it's more about their procedures than the actual damage he sustained? I guess that would be good news. But they should just have paramedics on hand given their wealth and stature. Thanks for the translation.

Alvarado started the Santos Laguna match back in Sept. that ended up being suspended in the 12th minute because of rain. They finished the match last night and he picked up 2 yellows and went out in the 62nd minute. It's impossible to understand the match from the ESPNFC match summary because they provide no background. 6 subs in the 12th minute and 6 more during the remainder of the match.

There's some sort of drama about this move, at least based on this Tweet that I don't know the source for.

    Highlights

He slips coming out to meet an attacker (0:11) and seems keep a couple attackers onside on a break (0:35).

Alvarado goes 90 tonight as Necaxa defeats Jorge Villafana (who also went 90) and Santos Laguna 2-1 to advance to the final of the Copa MX.

In the final, Necaxa will face Toluca, currently in first place in Liga MX.

This spring is his first season with Necaxa and Alvarado has started 5 games in the Liga MX Clausura and one in Copa MX.

He started 5 games last fall... for Santos Laguna, so tonight had to feel pretty good for him.

Game winner in the 91st minute. Alvarado had the assist on the first goal off a corner.

A lot can happen in the next 12 months.

    But...

If the US is actually gonna play two tournaments next summer... just sayin'.

He'd be pretty far down the depth chart at CB, IMO, but if you say only North American-based players go to Copa America next summer*, then suddenly a guy with Alvarado's experience probably is in play. Not saying he makes the team, but if he's getting games in Mexico (especially on teams that contend for trophies) and he'll only be 30 at WC 2022, then it's not that far-fetched he's in contention for a roster spot.

*Presuming the Europe-based players aren't released for Copa because it's not an official tournament for the US. But if Liga MX is sending Mexican players, can't see them not sending US players to Copa. So I'm expecting a US roster of almost all MLS/Liga MX players at Copa America.

That said, hopefully US Soccer uses this as a chance to get the U23 players some games together but if they're all in Europe, harder to get that to happen for Copa. Which brings us back to the likes of Alvarado.

I don’t know anyone who liked Alvarado’s skill set as much as me back in 2015. Unfortunately, he hasn’t put it it all together as he nears 26, so I don’t have much expectations. However, if we are constrained to North America, he is probably in my 23 for another look.

Our top 4 CB “prospects” are in Europe. Of the CBs from last cycle, Besler is the only one I’d consider keeping around. Of the new guys, Glad is the only one I’m thinking is a reasonable prospect at this time. One of the things I’ve always liked about Alvarado is that his technical ability and mobility make him quite flexible positionally. When he has struggled at CB, I’ve hoped they would have moved him out wide (which he has played some) or to a dmid role.

So Necaxa won 1-0 on what can only be described as an auto-golazo by Toluca that would have made Jeff Agoos blush.

Our boy went the full 90.

For Alvarado, the completes a triple crown of trophies won in Mexico as he adds a Copa MX title to the two Liga MX championships and the pair of CONCACAF Champions' League trophies he won with Club America.

He's only 25. That's a nice haul of trophies to have won at such a young age. I imagine there are a lot of players in Mexico that have played a lot longer that haven't nearly as many trophies.
