Still waiting for any sort of evidence that Zelalem earns anything like £30k pw. Somehow I don't think anyone is going to provide it. I'm sure you'll all be surprised when Zelalem ends up in MLS on a non DP contract. It's be a big step down from his fictitious status as a £30k pw player at Arsenal.
@wellno I don't know how you've parlayed looking like an idiot over something as small as wages into a spiteful post on Zelalem but may God bless you man.
I agree that £30k /week is strange for a young, non-starter and likely off by a margin. Several articles cite the figure though and, without a contact at the club, we have to go with data that is available. It has been discussed on this website before, and is less than the average salary of Premier League players. But you seem completely convinced by your one anonymous blogger (ArsenalTruth), so I don't even know why I try. Anyway, the point of my OP was that there is evidence that his salary may place him out of leagues that he could reasonably fight his way into after such an injury. He will obviously take a pay cut if the figure is close to correct, but he still may demand too much for MLS, and many other leagues.
that's not really his game, and I think he'd do a lot better in La Liga or Segunda where he'd have teammates who play combinations with him rather than wondering why he keeps passing and only running 5 yards.
Back in Arsenal, finally recovered, but didn't make the 18 for the U23 game today. Seems to be in limbo at this point.
Zelalem is a month removed from reconstructive knee surgery. He's not finally recovered and won't be anytime soon.
He's recovered? That would be way ahead of schedule. It's been less than 3 months from when he was diagnosed with 6 to 9 months needed.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BXx_elQhGJS/ He just ran for the first time on Friday. Nowhere near ready to play yet.
Yes, he's supposed to start training as in therapy training now, not training with the team. My mistake.
God speed to the young man. It's a grind but it's a much more manageable rehabilitation process than it was 15 years ago.
Having been through this myself - without the Arsenal training staff, I'm not surprised at all that guys can return in 6 months. His full time job is rehab.
It helps that his game wasn't dependent on his physical qualities, rather this technical and mental abilities.
Indeed, he's a very technical guy. Reason why I suspect he'll never be of much use for our NT, we're a physical team par excellence.
A blessing in disguise, really. He can use the 6+ months of gym time to progressively pack on some functional muscle/weight.
Are we really going to argue about this? ACL injuries are awful. Every time you step on the field your are fearful of it happening again, changes your whole mentality while playing. GZ could have put on the muscle without the tear, come on
Technique is only useful insofar as you can use it to do something productive on the field, which is a key reason why Zelalem's career has stalled. He's the second coming of Jose Francisco Torres until he either beefs up the defensive side of the game or suddenly learns to use his smooth technique to unlock defenses.
As a rotation guy for Tigres, one of the wealthiest clubs in the Americas, JFT must be earning a pretty penny. I suspect even Zelalem would be happy if he got to that point.
