I really don't understand why Pekerman is always the last coach to publish the squad.

Probably because he doesn't want to call a player that could get injured in the weekend, I think It is positive to wait until you know if all the guys you plan to call up are healthy. Most of the players he wants are probably blocked already anyway.

Besides, Sports journalists in Colombia suck. They would be ripping his call up apart already.

I sincerely Hope a couple of surprises, like Harold Mosquera, Nico Benedetti and maybe another GK.

So, if you already know which the call up Will be, why do you care so much. We don't have a large pool of players so what? We are still closer to qualifying than a lot of teams that have better leagues and even better players. He can keep working in the way he seems fit as long as he gets us in Russia.

Even tho I don't think he deserves a call maybe we probably should call up Quintero if James can't make the cut. Thoughts?

Last season, definitely. This season, no. He lost all his stamina over the summer. He's playing decently, but he doesn't deserve the call up currently.

I think Gio has earned himself another call up and with Cardona still killing it, James' possible absence isn't as much of an emergency as it has been before. Remember that izquierdo is part of the squad now; he can easily slot into where Cardona normally plays.

I'd prefer a kid like Benedetti or, if Pekerman is really worried, Chara, the best creative player in the league right now.

I forgot Chará. That guy will be in the call up definitely. He is incredibly dynamic and in Junior he apparently has found a place to call home.. It's a shame that he is so short. I've seen dogs that are taller than him.

And don't forget Macnelly. With him, Gio and Cardona we'll have enough creating players. But I do want to see Benedetti in the call up. As for Chara, I'm asking him since he played with Nacional. I loved him since I saw him in Tolima. Very upset on our managers not to pay the 4.5 millon on him.

I would consider Quinterito because of his crazy Free Kicks and corners ability.

Without James we may have guys experimenting on set pieces in a game like this.
It will probably be Cuadrado and Cardona fighting to take the corners. Maybe Muriel if he starts too. I have seen him take a bunch in Italy.

FK's on goal will probably be between Falcao and Cardona.

Long FK's will probably be Cuadrado.

Well from the looks of it James should be back in time, he is training again and Ancelotti said he could be ready to play next weekend. If he is back I hope we can afford to sub him out early vs Venezuela to help ease him back to be ready for 90 mins vs Brazil.

As for Quintero, I don't want him to be called up until he changes his mentality and stops being lazy. He can't keep thinking his talent alone will get him somewhere, a call up would send the wrong message as talented as he is.

It would be great news if James can be ready in a couple weeks. I just hope he does not hurry back too fast. Tricky injury he has.

As for the attitude of Quintero I think Pekerman knows how to deal with that. He has done well with players with attitudes in the past.

But I agree it is time for JuanFer to man up and take charge of his career or else his time for the Sele could be in jeopardy.

I could see some surprises on the list but probably not "new guys".
The media seems to be banging on the Edwin Valencia drum and Nacional players seem to always have priority in Perkerman's eyes.
Would not be shocked to see him and/or Aldo Leao get surprising call ups.

I would prefer James get settled in at club first, specially post-injury....at least for this call up. Or at the very least have him called up and play only vs Brazil. He needs to rack as much minutes and playtime with his club. And Pekerman has to also find a replacement for him if something unfortunate were to happen. While I know Ancelotti will do everything in his powers to help him succeed. Something tells me that the 'delay' in Pekerman's call up has a lot to do with James and his situation.

Pekerman always waits till a week before the first match for the call ups, nothing new here.

Y esta es la razón por la que esas convocatorias 3 semanas antes del partido no tienen ningún sentido.
