Spurs join Real and Barca in chase for Venezuela starlet Fernandez

Tottenham are among a host of clubs monitoring Venezuela starlet Carlos Fernandez.

The 18-year-old, who plays for Deportivo Anzoategui, is currently starring in the South America U20 Championships in his homeland.

Lyon, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have all sent scouts to watch the left-sided attacking midfielder but he has already signed with British-based agent Barry Yeubrey and is keen to move to England.

Tomàs Rincón (on loan from Deportivo Tachira) will be having his 1st appearance for Hamburg in HSV's 2nd leg UEFA Cup match against Nijmegen (NED) according to mopo.de.

1st leg was a 3-0 away so our coach Jol will give some of those not-first-11 players some playing time tomorrow. Will be our 100th UEFA Cup match in club history also, and the game will be televised on free TV here in Germany.

We're all happy about his performance. He had a good game if you consider that it has been his first match and that he played out of his favourite position in right midfield. He almost could have scored 1 (and almost assisted another) and had a distance shot at their keeper.

All in all he looked quite confident, made some good tackles and passes and also held the ball well. What I found especially funny, and what maybe showed some of his character, was when he reminded me a bit of our Brazilian DM/C-Def Alex Silva half a year ago, when Silva gesticulated wildly with his fingers in the air and allready gave orders to his new teammates in his first match :D.

Last not least, he received lots of hugs and encouraging shoulder slaps from his teammates after the game. Even our pedantic grim-face goalie and team authority Frank Rost had a big smile for him. That summed up his debut quite vividly.

I hope we'll see him again in some of the upcoming matches. 3 of our next opponents arent playing that strong, so maybe he'll be given some more playing time to adapt.

this is good for us....hope more venezuelan players go to big clubs in europe so people will finally see that if a player is born in venezuelan that doesn't means he will suck...venezuelan players can be as good as a brazilian or as an argie...!!

With the way Ecuador shitted on Brazil for 90 minutes yesterday... a victory is highly possible...

except it might end in a tie again ..... lack of goal in both teams... you guys beat Bolivia by 2 goals at home... so did Ecuador ... Bolivia is hardly a gauge by which to judge... but we both have gotten a lot better offensively.

And as far as I know both Ecuador and Colombia are in the shitter so far as uncertainty has it. I predict we keep switching positions every now and then through out these quals.

how about brazil then....look at the shots on gol statistics from colombia against brasil in bogota and the shots on gol from colombia in brazil

like i said, win your own games and your not the only ones that play well aginst brazil...but continue to think so because it goes to your head, obviously

I don't think Ecuador played well against Brazil .. I know! The world knows it go to argentine, brazilian, english, italian, spanish news .. just go right now.. and read the articles ... they are comparing Brazil to a "San Marino albeit lucky one" and sucking off Ecuador. Did you watch the game?? I saw the colombia bolivia game.. and I can say that both teams are doing well offensively except both have deficiency when it comes to actually scoring the actual goal. How many shots at goal did Colombia have on bolivia... like freaking 12 and out of those only 2 went in and rightfully and fairly so.. against a wack bolivia which only played heavy defense.

i saw the game, brazil played like every team plays in the altitude of quito or bogota....

the truth comes out when ecuador plays (played) in brazil....

    4-0

the tie at home is not that impressive, sorry

if the two of you tie on points, acc. to new conmebol regulations the goal difference between the two of you will determine who goes on...thats all that matters in the end, 4-0

colombia tied ecuador in quito, if colombia beat you in bogota then guess what-- endgame

With Suarez as a coach and his terrible choice of players.. hell yea we played horrible ... what happened when he left??? tell me, exactly!

Venezuela beat us at home .... so it is not an excuse..... the same goes for Bogota... like 100-200 meter difference.. the altitude affects teams in Bogota as well.

I saw both games... and I can say Ecuador has slightly better futbol than Colombia and an unarguablly better midfield and defense, and can come out with a tie or even victory from Bogota... but in futbol anything can happen, and Colombia aint no push over.. and are expected to win at home.. But Ecuador will not want to lose... away or home.

Brazil is a better team than Ecuador... waay better... they couldnt beat us. They tied us with an own goal... just to remind.

It was Chiriboga's fault .. no professional team keeps a coach for more than 4 years.... but if ppl bring that up about our losses early on then I have to say why ... but its not really an excuse.. so you are right ..we sucked at the start but the team picked up slack later...with a new breath of fresh air.
