    Hi everyone,

My name's Tom Williams and I'm a journalist from the AFP news agency.

I'm writing a book - a global football glossary - which is due for publication next year and I'm using the Big Soccer forums during my research.

I'm currently looking for words or phrases from Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela. Does anyone have any suggestions?

They might be names for pieces of skill, types of goal, styles of player etc. or more general words about fan culture, off-pitch matters or famous incidents. (I'm not looking for nicknames, be they for players or teams.)

Obviously all three countries share a lot of vocabulary with Spain and the other Hispanophone nations, but if you know any terms that are unique to any of these countries, please let me know. The more quirky and obscure, the better!

Any contributions will be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    Tom

In Bolivia we have some slightly unusual words.

de chiripa: lucky example: gol de chiripa
de apenitas: a goal or a pass that barely squeezes past the defense.
de lujo: a play of unique and unusual skill
Profesor: a player that uses positioning and intelligence but may lack in other areas
Maestro: a player that is really skilled and intelligent
murio la flor: The flower died. When a team tries to challenge but ultimately fails.
el mismo fulbito de siempre: When team passes and passes but is ineffective.
    Fulbito: indoor soccer

In Perú a good one is, the forward lo mandó a comprar pan , when an attacking player fooled a defender with a feint or nice dribbling

"Le tiró una nevera" when a pass is to long to be reached by another player.
"Anda a jugar muñecas" when a player acts like Neymar (foul).
"Pa' la pepa / pa' donde cagan las arañas" when a shot on goal goes exactly in the corner between the vertical and the crossbar.
"lo mandó al geriatrico" with a good dribbling against another player.

    Those in Venezuela.
