As we share this forum with the Rugby Union world thought the sports fans might be interested in this article.
Interesting stuff going on here -Rugby U a world football code-played in over 100 countries. Should have lots of commercial appeal for Australian sponsors names to be on the National teams Wallabies jumper.
The Wallabies also rated at No1 or No2 currently in the world - am not exactly sure.

Then we have the Collingwood AFL Aussie Rules jumper now valued commercially equally.
The new US fans to our sport may be surprised to know that - Some fans will say what does it matter. Well it does matter in the globalisation of sport in Australia.
Here is the article from Real footy

Collingwood's magic enhances the bottom line

With the signing of new guernsey sponsor Wizard Home Loans, Collingwood's famous jumper will carry advertising worth almost $3 million a year, making it the most valuable in Australian sport alongside the Wallabies guernsey.

The Wizard deal is worth about $8 million over five years with the possibility of further incentive payments should the Magpies reach performance benchmarks.

It is the biggest sponsorship deal in AFL club history, and combined with existing guernsey sponsor Emirates, takes the value of the jumper to almost $3 million.

The figure is equivalent to the amount paid by Qantas for the naming rights of the Wallabies guernsey but less than the $4 million-plus deal the Wallabies had with Vodafone between 1998 and 2003.

The partnership with Wizard aligns Collingwood with global giant General Electric. In October 2004, Wizard became part of GE Money, the consumer finance arm of General Electric, which has assets of more than $A30 billion and more than one million customers across Australia and New Zealand.

"We are currently in negotiations to enable Collingwood matches and regular highlight packages to be telecast via CNBC Asia sports channels into 40 million homes throughout the Asia Pacific region," said Magpie president Eddie McGuire.

When asked what it was like for Wizard to be going from sponsoring the AFL's pre-season competition to a club, McGuire quipped that it would have been like having your old girlfriend dump you one night only to be picked up by Elle Macpherson the next.

interesting. i assume the All Blacks would be far ahead in sponsorship money compared to the Wallabies. I wonder where Cricket team falls compared to the other sports.

Yes I agree you would think the All Blacks jumper would be more than 3 million a year. Rugby Union dominates all other winter and summer sports in New Zealand.

The Australian Cricket team shirt sponsorship runs into millions you would think. Cricket in Australia is the only major summer sport apart from the new A League for Soccer Football. The sport of cricket has about a million participants each season alone. That is a huge support base.

You can't put a monetary value on playing for your country.
