25-30 is big ask for Martial or Rashford, our creativity rests solely on Pogba, high press and counter attack with most teams sitting deep against us. We lack genuine balls from wing/ FBs if its sorted out then 25-30 is achievable but we need goals from midfield and setpieces aswell.
Lingard has 17 league goals in his career, Perreira has 1,Mctominay has 2. Dont see how our midfield gets goals.
25 in all comps isnt a big ask, nor is 20 league. That's well within his wheel house being played as a 9.
That is indeed our problem, only Pogs can score goals from midfield and with him playing bit deeper he will struggle to get goals this season (not taking pen aswell). Our dead ball strategy are woeful with McT Maguire Lindelof Pogs we should be getting most out of setpieces.
If we can use width well enough (just like against chelsea Martial goal) maybe Martial Rashford can, this is where you get extra 5-10 goals but we need consistent good balls in box and good reading movement by both strikers.
I'm not sure what your point is. We need goals from throughout the team. How is that being disputed? I finally watched the game and we will need balanced scoring throughout the team. So much improvement is needed. 5 in 2 games is misleading so stop using that in any argument you are making.
Agreed. Couldn't care less about all comps. Save it for the league Someone mentioned about lumping the ball to HM . We are woeful in this regard. Rash took a free kick from 200 yards out in the 60something minute of the game that was a perfect angle for a whipped ball in between the keeper and the defense line. Shaw's left foot should have made the attempt. Not to beat it to death but this is a simple area we can get some purchase from
We've been bad at set pieces for a long time and I agree a lot has to do with the delivery. Rashford taken any freekicks beside direct ones right outside the box are ridiculous. He has almost no aim to speak of but if he gets in that 20-30 yard range he can hit dipping shots. They're low percentage but until we get a proper deadball specialist they will do. Any non-direct freekick or corner is the problem. Why the feck was Shaw allowed to take corners last game? Hes on of the worst crossers in the team. If AP is on the field he should take all non-direct freekicks. Hopefully if we bring a 10 in this winter or next summer it will be someone that has decent service. Thats another kick in the nuts from Ed that we missed out on Bruno/Dybala/Eriksen. All would have improved our set pieces immensely. Our current stating 10, Jesse, is useless on freekicks and just about everything else.
Martial on his partnership with Rashford. https://www.skysports.com/football/...hford-relationship-is-pushing-both-players-on
Judging by the rumors and Oles comments once the window closed, I think we tried hard for him but weren't met with much enthusiasm. Seems like he's deadset on leaving England.
Martial on Rashford: "At training, we have this competition between us about scoring goals. We measure who does the best finishing and who scores the most. Who's winning? Well, that depends... Sometimes it's him, sometimes it's me.” pic.twitter.com/vJgDLfMpag— Rahul Singh (@forevruntd) August 22, 2019 Probably the best part of Martial's recent tv interview on French tv. Shows that they obviously like playing with one another and is a sign of their burgeoning partnership. Friendly competition is generally a very good thing. He also spoke the meaning of the #9 to him. Saying it's his favorite number and the one he's had since he was a kid. Also mentioned that he's back playing centrally (his position of choice) and he wants to show he's the best. All signs point to him having a banner season this term and he's definitely played that way so far.
I was just listening to an interview Martial gave the other day, helpfully translated into English. Is it the case that after all these years in England he still hasn't learned English?
Highlighting Martial's importance to United's attack. https://www.skysports.com/football/...-transforms-manchester-united-against-norwich How quickly things change, when many thought just 6mos ago that he needed to be sold...
Interesting write up from Martial. https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/utd-unscripted-long-read-from-anthony-martial Really hoping that this is the season he effectively turns the corner for good and becomes the player we've expected to be. If he can catch a break from injuries, that should go a long way in helping him getting there.
