Va-Va Voom, speeding into Old Trafford : the Anthony Martial thread

Discussion in 'Manchester United' started by Ashur, Aug 31, 2015.

  1. Yup. If the tabloid polluters first would consult someone with both brains and correct info before publishing fake numbers, it would save alot of fans around Europe complaining about their stupid club management not buying that bargain.

Any reasonably smart person (and especially football fans) knows not to buy the vast majority of what is said/published by British tabloids. Reporting BS is what they do to generate interest and clicks. Nothing new there unfortunately....

Unlucky against Derby. With any sort of luck he'd have had a goal and 4 assists against Derby. Really was in fine form. Hopefully he gets minutes with the best XI in an extended run.

Word is that he's about to sign a new 5 year deal. Who knows why he would do this with Jose at the helm, but it's good news.

I agree, but there's no guarantee he won't be here in 2 years. I don't think he will, but it's possible he turns things around enough this season to buy himself another year. Martial is essentially throwing away those years because he'll never reach his potential under Jose.

He must be getting a huge pay raise.

As previously stated, Martial and his people are not stupid. They are aware one way or another that the end is near for Mourinho.
The only way he saves himself is to get CL qualification for next season, which is pretty unlikely at this point.
Even if he is dragging his feet now, that's where Woodward will draw the line and when Mourinho will be fired eventually.
If nothing else, Martial is surely aware of this. Of course, the money is going to get surely helps, but a change in leadership in the horizon is a very likely factor as well.

For a couple years, give or take.

    We have to persist.

This is not taking into account the clubs management issues, just on the pitch. Martial is worth persisting. As is Rashford imo.

With Martial in fine form now, if only Lukaku could find the net on occasion we’d a club to reckon with.

Let's just hope he signs soon. The almost impossible has already happened between him and Mourinho and their relationship appears to have turned a corner, for now at least. Mourinho better be grateful though: Martial has had a huge hand in keeping him in place as of late.
We simply can not afford to lose him though: not only because we've invested big money on him as it is. But he's really showing his class in a big way ATM. The goal he scored today and his second vs Chelsea were beauties both technically and visually as well.
Long may it continue: the left side, Sanchez be damned, is his.

I was watching The Men in Blazers, and they had an interview with Rooney and he was talking about how SAF treated players differently. I know we all know this, but it got me thinking about Martial, especially considering how hard Jose seems to be on him. It seems strange, as Jose seems to be the kind of guy who would understand this.

Also is it just me, or does Jose seem to be walking this weird tightrope where he is trying to be fired and not at the same time? Like he will do the right thing for a week, and then the opposite the next.

Jose is mentally and emotionally broken. It would not surprise me if he's massively depressed to the point where he could harm himself.

I could believe he is mentally and emotionally broken. Most seem to think it is an act. I am not so sure anymore. He just seems so reactionary at the moment, and never truly happy.
