Speaking of Martial, I really did like to reaction to being substituted last weekend vs Arsenal. The knock for a long time against him was that he didn't care. Definitely put that myth to bed once and for all. The hope was that Jose would toughen him up and make super hungry: it appears to have worked perfectly. And he may not be considered "world class" just yet, but he's right there and is without a doubt one of the most talent players we've got after Pogba. And an up and coming force in the game. Very, very pleased with his evolution.

With his goal today, Martial has reached 10 so far this season in all comps. He's the third player now (along with Lukaku and Lingard) to reach double figure (and Rashford is close to being #4, with 9 goals so far). Point is though regarding Martial, he put in another terrific performance and while Sanchez is still the better player, it woud be daft to remove Martial from the left to accommodate Sanchez, especially when he can actually play on the right, unlike Martial who seem to struggle when played on that side. The possibilities though, with those 2 (and with Pogs and possibly Lingard as well) really could be mouth watering. As mentioned in today's game thread, love Mata, but playing him (especially wide right) not only unbalances the team greatly, but if affects our overall speed as well. If Sanchez signs, it could really transform our attack, with Martial one of the biggest beneficiaries IMO.
That's the main idea for sure, but there are quite a few other options available to Jose as well, depending on the circumstances and opponents. Also, if that is to become our go-to setup, then the next priority for the summer becomes a viable 8, 6/8 or even 8/10.
Yep, especially if Fellaini leaves. Carrick will likely retire this summer. That leaves us with 3 senior CMs.

I’d rather get a top percentile 6/8 or 8/10 or both than a 10. We need someone else who can create from deep. Pogba’s ability to create in the final third matches most 10s. We need another ball carrier on the wings (Sánchez ticks that box) and someone who can control games. I don’t see the need for a 10 as vital at this time, particularly if we are going to use 433. You figure we’d use that against top teams utilizing a creator/controller. Against minnows we should use a goal scoring 10 of which we have many. I’d take a 10, but for me, if we get Sánchez, that drops down after 2 CMs. Maybe even behind a CB and another winger.

What I'm really liking ATM is how Martial (who is already having a fantastic season) has obviously stepped it up a couple of notches in recent games. Almost as if all that Alexis talk about how he may be coming to take his place has spurred him on. Just leave him be, put Alexis on the opposite flank and watch the both of them wreak havoc upfront. And facilitate things greatly for others (namely Lukaku and also Pogba among others).
Martial has been named United Player of the Month of January by the fans. www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2018/Feb/Anthony-Martial-is-voted-Manchester-United-Player-of-the-Month-for-January-2018.aspx
Talks over a new contract for Martial have come to a halt. www.bleacherreport.com/articles/2761155-tottenham-transfer-news-latest-anthony-martial-contract-rumours RMC are not frivolous usually, so we may have to pay attention to those reports. And honestly, it's not surprising at all that there would be difficulties, given how Martial appears to have been marginalized since Sanchez arrived, for starters... He looked to have done well to rebound from his poor form from last season and we could possibly lose him sooner rather than later. And he'll surely be in demand as well. Disappointment would not even begin to cover the feeling if he were to leave honestly...
Jose is turning on the players and the chips are starting to fall. We need to cut out the cancer before it spreads or the next coach could be looking at a rebuild without some of our best players.
Emery will be gone once PSG loses to RM, and I am guessing PSG will turn to proven CL winner Jose next. Works out well for all sides.
