Yeah, but she's still killing it. Great player for the Dash, and has a high amount of potential to be the next Heather O'Reilly player for the US. Improvement is still needed to get more width on the attack, and Ohai is 2nd to none at that.
Hadn't thought about it before, but I'm starting to wonder about a reluctant insurer, just as I did with Chalupny. Does anyone know if the unders use the same insurer as the full National team?
I never said she's just a destroyer. You must be hallucinating. I said that if Lloyd was unavailable, I'd consider moving Brian up to A-mid, making Horan more of an 8, and putting a destroyer behind her. Where does that read: Brian is a destroyer? Earlier in the thread, I said she's the most indispensable field player on the team. "she also does a lot of important short passes" She does important long passes too. Kling was able to get the ball wide and cross, because Brian was feeding her exquisite through balls behind the fullback. She also holds the ball under pressure like a champ and finds the pressure release valve. She can dribble at players nearly as well as Heath. She is a total player for us. I think she is the best center mid we've ever had.
I think Brian spread her wings a bit in this tournament. She looked more to make the final pass. Got into the box and took on. And still handled most of the linking.
So is Ali Krieger starting to become obsolete? Hinkle has played more recently it seems. Is Krieger nothing more than an emergency 4th center back now? And is Ashlyn Harris fizzing out as well? Naeher has started and played more recently than Harris. In fact, Harris hasn't gotten a cap since the Viking days. It just seems that Krieger and Harris are going to be next to O'Reilly soon. And if so, the Youth Movement has truly been launched.
Well, its true that Harris hasn't played since Sept 17th, and she and Naeher were always neck and neck-- possibly Naeher has pulled ahead for awhile... But come on-- Kreiger doesn't play for two games and you have her cut? Is it possible that she has a sprain, or that Ellis just wanted to see something else in a gimme game and a meaningless game?
No, No, No, Nein, нет, and in my native Czech....Ne. If she chooses, Alexandra The Great possesses the ability, skill and the complete and total frickin awesomeness to start and dominate right-back for this team well into her 50's.
Im still looking for a youtube vid that shows the award ceremony. If anyone sees one id appreciate a link. TIA
Some in-depth statistics from the game: http://rpubs.com/AMJ/concacaf-oly-qualifying-2016-usa-can-022116 Some interesting statistics: * Morgan Brian's passing under pressure was 34/36. Overall passing was 64/76. * The top two crossers were on the left side: Klingenberg (4/4) and Pugh (3/3)
I would like to see Taylor Racioppi from Duke take Lloyd's position down the road. She has many of the same skills and I think is better at possessing consistently. Also, she's has a fiery, competitive temperament and she's also a NJ native like Lloyd.
I have never been a big Carli Lloyd fan. Some players one just tends to like more than others. But, with a gold-medal winning goal in overtime in the 2008 Olympics final, both of the goals in the 2012 Olympics final, the only goal in the 2015 WWC quarterfinal, the winning goal and the clinching assist in the 2015 WWC semifinal, and a hat trick in 16 minutes (including the longest shot ever to score a goal in a World Cup final, men's or women's) in the 2015 WWC final, she certainly has as impressive a track record of coming through in big games as anyone.
