Would have preferred a goal or two more, but NZL have a better defense than people would expect. All in all, I thought we looked very good, but still need to do better penetrating defenses and not just crossing balls in.
I think what u learned about France is dont make silly fouls 30 yards in cause they can score off free kicks.
She just wasn't raised right or was dropped on her head at a young age. Nothing like insulting your host. I have no use for her outside the chalk lines.
Any word on Mallory Pugh's injury? Hope it is not serious. That said, I would still go with Dunn vs. France. Majri looked very dangerous on the left side.
Apparently she is incapable of doing so (or actually has no class ). This is the same Hope Solo we have known and loved since her tantrum after Ryan played Scurry in the Beijing Olympics. Personally, I was all on board with WHO's recommendation that the Olympic Games be moved because of the zika virus. Thank goodness it is winter and the mosquitos are not as prevalent.
Not good news here with Laudehr. Torn ligament as a result of a nasty challenge in yesterday's Zimbabwe match. https://t.co/3ZLx2USD9V— JJ Duke (@JJDuke21) August 4, 2016 The good side of not having a really weak team in ur group. Everyone in Group G can play the game.
Attendance was 9556 last night, but an average of 1.3 million were watching on NBCSN: http://sportstvratings.com/olympic-...-tv-ratings-for-wednesday-august-3-2016/5602/
Wrong tournament. Ryan benched Hope in the 2007 WC. Pia was the coach in 2008 and Hope played every minute.
Speaking of Solo Hope Solo wants to play in the 2019 World Cup https://t.co/ReUB9L0Kbt pic.twitter.com/dY4wVp5g3X— SI Soccer (@si_soccer) August 4, 2016
True. While New Zealand did get quite physical with the US in this game, it wasn't nearly as bad as what Zimbabwe was doing to Germany
I'm a little surprised how much discussion the boo's on Solo are getting both here and in the press since during the match it seemed everyone was taking it all in the nature of "good fun." Even Solo herself didn't seem too bothered. Were Solo's comments/tweets tasteless? Yes absolutely, and it contributed to the scaremongering that the media was already doing. However, in the grand scheme of "things Solo has said/done", its not even a blip on the radar for me. We already knew that "diplomatic" and Solo do not belong in the same sentence together. And on the other side, the boos and Zika chants from the Brazilians are not a big deal, imo; its soccer, and heckling, especially towards the opponent's goalkeeper, is part-and-parcel of attending a soccer game. I mean, did anyone seriously think a Brazilian crowd would be cheering for the US? Moving on...Brian, Heath, and Sauerbrunn were the standouts for me. Long was a bit of a weak point with some giveaways, but she improved in the 2nd half. We had some errors in positioning, and I think we'll have to see a quicker tempo to the game to breakdown France, but a solid start to the tournament overall. Considering some of the New Zealand tackles, I'm also thankful we came out of the game without any serious injury although I guess no one is sure how serious Pugh's ankle injury is.
I just watched the Match again (for the third time) and this got under my skin. You are right on Brook. For me, it was not the booing, boo anyone, anytime, anywhere. It was the 'ZIKA" with every goal kick. Few questions for the Brazilians. Are you proud of the Zika virus? Are you actively wanting the virus to spread? Do you wish that one particular individual (hmmm) would suddenly contract the virus? Can we expect similar outbursts throughout the tournament such as "ankle sprain" or "torn ACL" directed at participants? Words have meaning, actions have meaning. We might have learned a lot about the Host Nation in one of the first events of these Olympic Games.
I'm sorry; I must have missed what you're talking about. Would you please point out to me where she used the word "Brazil" in any of her posts?
