Rampone undergoes knee surgery. Better now than later in the campaign.... http://www.ussoccer.com/news/womens-national-team/2013/09/rampone-undergoes-minor-knee-surgery.aspx
Not sure exactly what topic to put this under, but here are some interesting tweets from Graham Hays (@grahamhays): "Interesting answers at training from USWNT coach Tom Sermanni about Morgan Brian. Sounded like someone who sees her as serious 2015 option." "Sermanni on Brian in WC buildup next fall: 'The way she’s progressed would suggest she’ll be heavily involved in the national team program.'"
Here's a rating of sorts. minutes played per point (goals = 2; assists =1) scored. In 2013 Press -- 31 minutes played per point Leroux -- 35 Wambach -- 36 Morgan -- 51 Rapinoe -- 56 Holiday -- 73 Boxx -- 97 Lloyd -- 100 Heath -- 102 O'Reilly -- 191 And before somebody tells me, yes, I know statistics don't tell the whole story. The USWNT is rather stingy with the stats. The NWSL is better.
Definitely a bit of a drop off for Morgan. Last year her rating was 30 minutes played per point. Hopefully she'll have an inury free 2014 to get into a better rythm with the team.
