I've got nothing to say tbh. I'll leave this to those who know better than me about how US Soccer operates.
Players and former players are rightly speaking out on Solo's comments. It would just be nice to see/hear them be more critical of other aspects of the USWNT.
Foudy is pretty much saying this is another water balloon from USSoccer. This would have been a much bigger deal if the US had one gold and they were suspending her from the VT. In six months she basically misses 5 meaningless friendlies to close 2016 and maybe 2 in February 2017. Not sure how much money it costs her cause I dont know how the contracts r paid but she'll get all her NWSL money.
Yeah, this looks like a mostly symbolic move. That didn't stop the Players' Association from filing an appeal on her behalf, citing, among other things, First Amendment violation (which is so stupid I hope to Cthulhu it's not real).

Why can't Jill Ellis just not bring her in for games anymore? Would that be against the contract? It's time to move on from Hope Solo at goal and preparing for the future.
Against the Contract. IIRC, the only way for Solo to be off the team is for her to quit or bring her for a year as a backup and another year as a lower paid player. There is some weird contract. Though, IIRC she is entitled to severance pay if the contract is canceled. Although, USSF gave severance pay to players who retired like Heather Mitts.
I think we're about to get a better look. I wonder if she has to be called up at all due to contract termination.

The 6 month suspension from the USWNT is why Ellis cant bring her in. U dont need to have a contract to get called as both amateur and floaters r used by the team.
Anyway, here's my tin foil hat theory about how Solo got suspended 6 months for saying the "c" word and it turned out to be "cowards" Since they seem determined to put Solo on trial in her DV case, how clever would it be for Gulati to suspend Solo now to completely distance her from the team during the trial. If Solo is found innocent the door is open for a March return. If Solo is found guilty, USSoccer doesnt have to take action against Solo based on the criminal case because she is already off the team. If true it explains what is otherwise a big over reaction to comments made immediately after a match which tend to get much saltier than "cowards".
Will she? I thought the CBA/MOU stated that no non-contract players can earn more than USWNT players. Surely the Reign will have to sign her to a new contract and foot the bill.
