Pretty good result. Both teams had chances to win but a draw is probably fair. Pulisic is the real deal. I'm not sold on Guzman as our number 1.
By the lineup, I figured Bruce was willing to let this one go. Guzan? Getting some time. Gonzo? Should know all of the Mex strikers, kept whacking balls away that Guzan could have had, didn't step to the goal scorer. Arriola and Acosta didn't really impress. Getting a point was a near miracle in this one. Definitely 12 on 11 with that ref.
Arena said Howard would have started but that was his 3rd game in 1 week and knew he would do a lot of kicking. Concerned his injury would force an early substitution.
Cameron ran right past the guy with the ball and gave Vela space instead of getting on his left foot.
I'm so glad we got rid of JK and have Arena now. I'm not sure there's too many coaches that would have got a point last night considering how we've played the last year.
There was a midfielder chasing a trailing runner and our CBs were marking no one. I think Gonzalez was closest if I remember correctly. It was not the fault of Beasley. Not sure who is in charge of communicating Beasley getting help. I doubt Guzan or the CB who may have been in charge said anything. Very disappointing team defending/comunication in that moment. Cost us 2pts but it's still a good result despite all that and a few blown opportunities like Wood's
Maybe I'm naïve here, but I don't think anyone can be "in charge" of getting Beasley help. By the time it's communicated it's too late. To me, PO'd had it right. Cameron jogged right by and didn't apply any pressure to help double team. I thought Beasley played it pretty well. Saw some player rating place gave Cameron MotM. I didn't see it that way, but I was distracted with my kids upcoming soccer stuff and didn't really get to pay attention to the second half.
Thought Acosta did pretty well. Never even heard of Arriola before last night. I don't think he showed well. My only big complaint heading into the game was starting Ream. Though he did well enough I suppose.
I put a bit more blame on Guzan on those than Gonzo. Guzan didn't seem to come out for balls he should have been easily able to get to. Looked like Gonzolez (or Cameron?) even got upset at Guzan about it at one point. It's disappointing, Guzan seemed like he was primed to be the next great American keeper, but he's just never been able to take that last step. Howard is probably still the best we have right now. Probably time to start bringing in a younger set of keepers.
Beasley attempted to shove the player, who slipped out of the way. If he had just committed to staying goalside of the ball, he wouldn't have been burned. That's where he lost a step, and couldn't get back.
World's largest shipping line @Maersk tells customers to effectively forget about trying to ship anything to or from #Qatar. pic.twitter.com/t07VaqJgtd— Steve Herman (@W7VOA) June 6, 2017 I wonder how long Egypt let's ships carrying Qatar goods through the canal.
At the moment a few places like Iran and Morocco are airlifting food into Qatar to keep people from going hungry. It's unlikely there's much room left over on the planes for cement, girders and roofing. Maybe all those chubby princelings will just have to keep driving last year's Ferraris for a while. Jebel Ali is actually in the UAE. It's one of the biggest deepwater ports in the world. Without access to it, Qatar has no hope of obtaining the construction materials it need a. There just is no alternative.
Interesting. It gives the US a good crop of young GKs. I think Steffen, Cropper & Gonzalez all have potential to be solid #1s as well.
