Anyone remember Erick Palmer-Brown? The CB wunderkind from SKC that ended up signing for Man City? Predictably, he hasn’t (and never will) play for City, got loaned out to NAC Breda, and is getting absolutely schooled by Ajax right now.
That's to be expected when you're a 33-1 dog. EPB will get his chance with City when they come over for Money Grabbing Tour 2019. Garber gets to flash his shit eating grin on TV and talk about how this proves MLS is a world player and pat himself on the back knowing EPL reserves are selling more tickets and getting more eyeballs in America than his own product. Hopefully, someone will kick Garber in the ass and catch Lalas square in the jaw. Then I will laugh.
EPB was never ever good enough to play for City. Ever. Never will be, either. Should’ve stayed with Porto when he had the chance.
Yeah, if Ederson stays, I don't really see a way forward for him. I hate the transfer personally. At best he's the backup, plays in the cup competitions. That's.... ok, but I'd rather he be playing every week in the Bundesliga than once a month against some team from the second division in England.
I was gonna say....is he even the 2nd choice goalkeeper for sure? I dont follow EPL super closely but I noticed City also has Bravo, who's older so hes not necessarily a huge threat but they also have Muric who's 3 year younger than Steffen. With Ederson at 25, Steffen almost 24, and Muric 20. I could see them easily loaning Steffen out, especially if they think Muric can handle the role. Hopefully he gets loaned to Germany and that team purchases him.
I would assume that Steffen could be the #2. I know City has money, but why spend $10 million on a 3rd string GK? Even if the plan is to just loan him and then sell him, transfer fees are much lower for GKs than outfielder players. Could the profit be that big to get City and the Emirati owners that excited? Just seems odd all around. The only other option I could think of is that Steffen is groomed for a year or two, then Ederson is sold. I’m not sure where he’d go though. Not anywhere else in the EPL. Not La Liga. Not Ligue 1. Not Bundesliga. Maybe Napoli or Roma in Serie A? Maybe Juve or Milan if their GKs leave? Perhaps the most likely answer (and one that I fear is the closest to being correct) is that this is just a marketing ploy by City to get more fans and revenue from the US. Chelsea has the top American attacker (right now, though I’m starting to have doubts about Pulisic) and City has the #1 GK for the next decade for the US.
Maybe, but they already have Areola. He's a French international, heir-apparent to Lloris. PSG regularly have FFP issues, one would think they would use their resources elsewhere, instead of in a position where they already have a GK that is going to be a starter for the defending world champions in a couple years.
Doesn't really matter much to me, of course, but do we know where his new home really is located? I know US Soccer is based in Chicago. But US Soccer's national training center is in Carson, CA. And KC's new facility (Pinnacle National Development Center) hosts the U.S. Soccer National Coaching Education Center. Why would the USNMT coaching staff have to live in Chicago, where they virtually never would meet with/train players? I can't imagine that Arena or Klinsmann lived there. My guess is they're following Gregg to CA.
I have seen it stated many times, that they want their coaching staff in Chicago. I believe JK was one of few who didn;t move their.
Part of the requirement for the new US coach was that they would work out of the Chicago HQ. So I imagine he'll spend most of his time there.
Wasn't sure where to put this. USSF proposes new money grab with South America. SA says nope. conmebol-us-soccer-copa-america.html

Bad roster if you are my liver.
I was impressed with Lima in January. It'll be nice to see what he can do this time around. Pulisic has barely played at Dortmund since he announced his move to Chelsea. I think we have some dangerous guys up-front with Zardes, Arriola and Morris. I'd like to see what they can do if the team isn't defending 80% of the match, like with the previous administrations.
Man, this has bothered me since the day it was announced. Ederson is one of the best in the world and has a lot of years left. Why in the hell would you sign with his team? Surely he could have found a better opportunity.
Is Sean Johnson really our #2 or 3 keeper? Really? Why is Gonzalez being called in? Thank you, next. Brooks and Miazga are the CB pairing. Omar is a step backward. I like Wil for the Crew, but is he really the best D Mid we have in our pool? I’m sure @Kyle Crew is happy to see Wood didn’t get called in.
