Wow. That stadium is empty. And I can’t say I completely blame the fans. The fans are sending a message. Is anyone listening? Nice finish by Jordan Morris.
Um, for a Dong Arber "MLS 1.0" team we ALWAYS packed Crew Stadium/Mapfre for USMNT (and oh how I miss it). Dos a cero!!!
Canucks D’s sucked on that set piece. Easy goal for Long. Three goals in 30 min. One more and we cover the GD even before playing Cuba.
Hustling for loose balls, making runs, and playing like they actually care. Look at the difference that makes!
They still only look useful on the counter, and some of the giveaways are still rec-league. But this is how I expected the away leg to go.
Check your math. A 2-goal win would suffice. wasn't there a game or two about a dozen years ago or so that only drew something like 11K?
and answering myself, back in 2004 games against both Grenada and Jamaica were in the 9-11K range I remember that Grenada game, started way too early in the day
Kudos for answering yourself. You have earned an allocation of season tickets to the inaugural Austin El Tree season in 2029.
You are (or were) correct. Now we merely need to beat Cuba—even by 1 goal—if my math is now correct. Did we play the same Canadian team we lost to in October? They were terrible tonight. We were average. Question is—how will we stack up against the likes of Mex, Honduras, and Costa Rica come next June?
Good to see Zardes score twice. Big win for the Nats. All they have to do is beat Cuba now. Of course, that is what we thought heading to T&T.
Was the Canadian goal offside? US had no one on the posts, the player that flicked it on was on the goal line around the time the ball was kicked (not sure about that) retreated a yard and a half as he attacked the ball. The US players seemed to think so. Overall the result flattered us, I feel. As mentioned 2 set piece goals but not too many other created chances. Lots of ugly giveaways. Brooks, who I was excited to see, was one of the worst players on the field. McKennie worked very hard on defense but had a lot of bad passes. Ream was bad. Zardes had a great game though. He was super engaged defensively. Time after time he made good runs in the box (despite Twellman disagreeing on one play). He deserved the goals he scored. Anyway, glad we won, the team still kind of sucks and isn't much fun to watch.
In more ways than one. Semi-related: COSI has a traveling exhibit about Cuba (the country, not the team) coming next year. A lot of their traveling stuff has been fantastic as of late. I'm looking forward to checking it out.
