I remember Brian Ching being touted as the first person from Hawaii to adorn a USMNT jersey. I was just looking over the roster on USSOCCER.com and it got me wondering which states have been represented throughout the years. It'd be cool to see a map of the United States with a number in each state showing how many players have come out of each one.

Anybody know if anything like this exists?

that would be really cool! not sure if anything like that is out there.

there was a thread a couple years ago about what each state's starting lineup would look like if every one of the 50 states had to field their own team. I think the general consensus was that California and New Jersey would be pretty impressive on paper...

It would be a huge task to go back through the years depending on how far back you want to go..
I doubt anyone has done it already but knowing Big Soccer someone will jump on the job..;)

ESPN had the top 3 states represented on the World Cup roster when it came out. California had 6, while New Jersey and Pennsylvania had 3 each.

As far as present and past USMNT New Jersey's got: John Harkes, Tony Meola, Claudio Reyna, Eddie Gaven, Tim Howard, Greg Berhalter, Glenn Myernick, Michael Bradley and Alecko Eskandarian.

Even though he's not a USMNT player, you could count Giuseppe Rossi for New Jersey.

Missouri has quite a few USMNT players and Georgia has a surprising number.

A "State Cup" of sorts would be a nice tournament. Don't think it would be a good idea for seniors though, more likely youths. I know Canada has a U-17 men's and women's tournament as part of their quadrennial Canada Games, and each team is a province. I think we could do that, be good for development.
