It's a dark blue according to the usl press release its based off of the Saint Louis flag. I'm not really a fan of it. There's no red in the clubs crest so the color seems unnesecary at least in relation to the clubs colors
The guys who were there said they spent a great deal of time explaining the reason behind the navy to gray gradient. Not many of the STL guys like it. What threw most of them was the use of red and yellow from the city flag as opposed to the predominant green from their logo.
What reason did they give for the gradient coloring? And that red and yellow clashes quite a bit with the logo. Although as soon as I saw the logo color I worried about how their jerseys would turn out the most. Odd thing to worry about, I know, but a good jersey is important for a team, especially a new one
The short version, as relayed, was that the ownership group felt that an all navy kit would look like "baby chicago" & make them feel like the little brother to their affiliates. Seems really odd to me since you have to look so hard to even realize there is a color change. Here is a link to one of the St. Louligans who tried to throw support behind the jersey. http://stlouligans.com/?p=1006
Wilmington Hammerheads 2015 jerseys... http://www.wilmingtonhammerheads.com/hammerheads-introduce-capelli-sport-official-supplier/
Doesn't hurt that the owner of the uni supplier is also owner of the Hammerheads. But I think they did a great job and think these are much better than the Nike offerings over the past two years.
With the Mls jersey week starting Friday I wonder if we will see the Mls 2 sides reveal their kits during this time ? Maybe the MLS should invite the USL to participate in jersey week . It could build even more anticipation for the coming season. What do you guys think ?
Maybe, but I thought I had heard they'd have a yellow kit of some sort. ETA: Now I remember. I guess it's supposed to be yellow and black stripes. A little too Batteryesque for some. I like the one above, tbh.
Maybe? When has a field player's kit ever been unveiled by a GK wearing his gloves? If it is a field player's kit...then this may be a first by using a GK to do the unveiling.
Can't help but feel the USL teams are missing out on some golden opportunities with their jersey to be creative, different, and unique to help them really stand out. Instead, for the most part, they're releasing a lot of plain, okay jerseys
That's what happens when they go with the big 2/3 uniform suppliers. Won't get the chance to be "creative" with them. They are all templates. Odds are, going with any other brand is going to cost more and not have the same supply available. Easy way to save money. Also an easy way to stay relevant with "name" brands.
That's what we first thought too but everyone was wearing it- @godda01 #stephenokai selfies on media day for the @PghRiverhounds pic.twitter.com/uZNEt5oJfo— Nicky Kolarac (@Nicky_Flash_Jon) March 3, 2015
Well, interesting decision for the GK to wear it then. Maybe he'll wear the home top as an away GK top? For those interested, that Nike top is pretty much the lowest price match top they provide, it's called the Park Derby. It's a new model for 2015.
Actually, I think I lost my train of thought when I last posted. My other idea was that when field wore home kits, GK would wear away, and vice versa. Not that that's true in this case, but it's happened.
is it me or does anybody else think that the switchbacks training jersey looks better than thier game jersey
Are my eyes tricking me, or is that training jersey black, charcoal and grey? (or is it white and gold?) Sweet look, and really should have been their jersey choice. Hoops for home with a Barca Esq away jersey. They would have stood out really well in the USL if they had done that. Is there any way we can get all the teams jerseys put up on here now?
