Thank you for the correction. The USL teams still swept the NASL which was the important part of my post.
Not really no. Hadn't even looked at PDL. I was going off incorrect information in an article that stated that USL was on their third game.
http://louisvillecityfc.com/collin-fernandez-loaned-to-lou-city-from-chicago-fire/ Chicago Fire send player to USL ... but not to affiliate St. Louis. Interesting ... and another reason all of the "haters" can suck a lemon when calling the USL just a MLS Reserve/Minor League ... MLS teams and USL teams are still figuring it out as to what's best for the paticular player involved and not being forced or obligated to send them down to a team just because of an "affiliation". SKC sent 2 players to an NASL team (San Antonio). So teams still are doing what's best for themselves and the player, which I think is good.
Several displays of support this weekend for the Charleston community : http://www.uslsoccer.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=32800&ATCLID=210162187
30-game schedule for 2016. Division III schedule lengths over time: 1994: 18 1995: 20 1996: 16 1997-2001: 18 2002-2010: 20 2011-2012: 24 2013: 26 2014-2015: 28 2016: 30
A 30 game season would make for a tidy 16 team West/East. That necessitates adding 8 teams but that doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.
Any thoughts on the final? I'm feeling Lilley will have bunkerball in full effect and Rhinos win it 1-0 in extra time.
I just saw on Twitter that MLS owned teams in the USL will not be eligible to compete in the 2016 Open Club. They did not have a link. Anyone else heard anything about this.
Four days of league meetings next week: http://www.uslsoccer.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=32800&ATCLID=210477291
Needed to happen eventually. Unfortunate for Bethlehem Steel, I was rooting for em' to go deep next year...
with the sudden expansion of USL teams, i'm really curious what changes we see coming out of these 4 days of meetings. Will any of the teams fold or move? will we see any major improvements to the league? that's what I want to know.
Well, USL announced the W League will cease operations before the 2016 season. Bummer for women's soccer in the States.
the benefits of local ownership...be warned that this is a fluffy piece: http://www.uslsoccer.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=32800&ATCLID=210483223
http://cityislanders.com/club-news/islanders-club-president-tiago-lopes-leaving-harrisburg/ President of HCI leaving. HCI has lost some big pieces in the last few months... not sure what the future holds for them.
The got rid of the Philly Union approved Pres/GM, no surprise there. And they didn't do very well this year.
