Altidore is almost certainly out Wed, and Sat as well. The word is they are going to consult Villarreal before releasing the MRI results. If we was OK, I don't think they'd need to consult about the results.

Bob's only taking 3 forwards, and no real target players, may come back to haunt us.

As for the Gold Cup, any suggestion that Mexico isn't the defending champions is just ridiculous. They crushed us last time, no denying it.

I like the US to scrape by in this one, 2-1. Panama is a quality team, though by rights, the Salvies should be here, as that wasn't a goal in the QF.

Wrong, LongDuckDong. Though the roster had some turnover: Cherundolo, Feilhaber, Davies, Holden, Goodson, Ching, and Adu all played in that tournament. All those guys had legit chances to make the 2010 WC squad (4 did, 1 would have, 1 should have). And saying guys like Cooper, Parkhurst, Perkins, Marshall, Rogers, Conrad, & Beckerman had not shot is an overstatement.

Was it our best team? No. Random selection of MLS players? Hardly. Mexico didn't send their team either.

It was a goal. They showed a replay confirming that it was completely over the line. Refs got it spot on. Panama won fair and square.

Most of those guys left or didn't play after first two games of the group stage. I'm talking about the players that Bob used in the Knockout Round/against Mexico.

    Perkins

    Marshall -above average MLS
Goodson -playing in Norway at the time
Heaps -below average MLS (I could name 5 better options)
Pearce -only made 6 appearances for Dallas that year

Pause -I could name a handful of better options
Beckerman -has emerged better since this tournament
Rogers -he may be on the squad now, but he has no chance of ever being a full time senior Nat
Holden -heads and shoulders above the others

    Arnaud -pretty average
    Ching -

    Cronin -wtf...why
    Cooper
Quaranta -played 22 games for a distinctly below average DC United that year

A lot of these guys had NO chance to compete at this level. I respect what they've done in MLS, but they didn't deserve minutes for the USMNT.

The USA had the slight upper hand in the first half, Panama dominated the majority of the second until Dempsey's goal. The Panamanians had good technique and midfield work, but can't seem to put the ball in the net (they had plenty of chances.) Adu is not Ronaldo but isn't as bad as many people make him out to be. Dempsey's been the most consistent non-Mexican player so far. Overall, and unconvincing win that could have gone either way.
