Advice to all Mexican fans: Don't get butthurt when we beat you again, and start throwing things because you can't take a loss.
If you need a helmet to absorb beer then yes, bring a helmet. Gold Cup Final in Chicago the Mexican fans poured beer/threw beer on those with US jerseys on. Classless fans.
So is there going to be a bar to get together at the night before the game? And/or after the game? I'll remind the Dallas people coming down to rush the Hobby Lobbys for some streamers. I look forward to meeting my Dynamo "friends"
Not that I'm aware of. You can check SA's website and see if they mention anything. Course, if you really want, you can post here that you want to. I'm sure there are plenty of people who wouldn't mind getting together for brewskies and talk about pouncing the Mexicans....again Dang, that never get's tiring
Being from Dallas I do not have a clue about the Houston Bars or well anything about Houston. I looked on the Sams-Army website and I only found Tailgate info. Since it is a week day game I am not sure how many people could/would want to get out. If no one care to go out or no one comes up with anything I guess I can go to the HEB and grab some beer and hang out with my family who lives in the Woodlands.
PRE/POST GAME PLANS: Pre-game will be @ Ginger Man @ 2pm. Post-game will be @ Brian O'Niell's Irish Pub. Those traveling to Houston - these bars are within an Agoos clearance of each other - there's a parking garage across the street from both bars (I don't know the fee). U.S. fans can meet up pre-game at Ginger Man and carpool to game and then return to same area for post-game next door at Brian O'Niell's. Anyone wanting to meet up Tues or Thurs Night should head over to the Mezzanine Lounge, a proud supporter of the Texian Army. Thank you for the info. I am excited about this game. My 4th Nats game and my first US v mex game. I will talk to Warren and see if he is up for Mezzanine for Tues.
Helmets won't be needed. USSF separated US and Mex fans. There is even a "neutral" section. Will be nice not getting pelted by ice. However, with this line-up that is forming on the Nats, it is not looking like we will be whooping Mex this one.
Can anyone planning on attending both/either of these PRE/POST game events PM me so that I can get a rough headcount - just as a courtesy to the gracious bar GMs. THANKS! Fellow U.S.A. die hards coming to Houston: Both these bars are right next to each other. Side by side. They are also off of the same street that Reliant Stadium is. Just a few miles North. Help FuBoy and I get a head count of who's coming. PM him! DALE U.S.A.!!!
I went to the USA v Mex last year and the fans were fine for the most part. USA fans stand your ground but don't engage them. Oh, and that is not necessarily beer they are throwing. To all those Mexican fans that are US citizens. I hope a Mexican Mexico fan hears you speaking English and pours piss on your head. You loser sellouts.
Click Kirby Limited for a Map. It's #18 on the list. It's a PDF, but it's small. Anywho, if you look center of the map (page 4), you'll see a "D", and that is where the bars are. Just gotta go south from there, on Kirby. The bus and lightrail take you straight to Reliant. The bus is closer, but either one is within walking distance. The rail just doesn't stop for anyone, while the bus goes with traffic. If you take the rail, you'll get to walk by Rice University, which, grudgingly, is a very pretty campus (they are my arch-nemesis ). Those are the two public transportation routes. Both are very cheap. Buses are $1, and I think rail is comparable. The Village is a very nice part of town, with lots of shops and pubs and what have you, so if you are planning on staying more than a day, you will have lots of fun. Hope that helps.
