And save Mitts for the gold medal match; save her from a silly second yellow, that's for sure.

    Great management from Pia.

88': Kai earns a CK. Hucles takes her time.

3 minutes of stoppage time. Subject to the ref not pulling a Byron Moreno.

89': JP, that's offside, not a goal kick.

    90': Another US CK.

Not sure who might have seen that other game. Just being careful.

    :)

BTW, kennytt - [result]In those games, Brazil was not playing with their best XI and it wasn't for all the marbles. I would take *some confidence* from those results, but I wouldn't assume we should win. Brazil tore Germany a new one in the other game - at least, by the scoreline - which is not an easy thing to do. I'd be shocked if we don't have our work cut out for us.[/result]

With all the tackles she's kept giving freely after the first yellow, it's an easy decision to sub her out...

    Off Solo's crossbar!

On the other end, Fukumoto with a one-on-one save!

    4-2! Still a game!

EDIT - Never mind. The American girls play for the gold, Nadeshiko plays for the bronze. Petignat looks upset...

lloyd should have pulled up and found a teammate. Better to possess and kill time than to score.

93': Japan goal, case in point. 4-2

Final - 5 nil against Brazil.

    No letup
    No mercy
...and the Brazilians can console themselves post-match with their silver medals...and a lukewarm cup of Swiss Miss!

Cox plays 8 minutes and ends up helping give up a goal.

Nice to see USA dominate a quality side. We rode our luck a bit early on, but no question USA was the better team today.

Good management by Pia, lots of players getting looks, goals. Am stoked to see Brazil crushed in the final.
