Yep. Howard is a starter. Cameron, Bocanegra and Johnson are starters. Williams and Bradley are starters. Gomez is a starter. Add Jones, who is a starter in certain tactical arrangements, and that gives the US 8 out of 11 of their usual starters. We are just missing Cherundolo, Donovan and Dempsey. All 3 are big losses though, as they would go near the top of that spectrum of starters. Zusi is the 4th, but he would probably be superseded by Jones for this particular match anyways.
Although Donovan and Dempsey are our key cogs the team still features essentially the A midfield and defense as well as the striking corps. The only real question is in the attacking midfield wide areas, where we are essentially going to audition our young guys, who you never know, might be completely fearless. Considering its an away match against a tough opponent I expect us to sit back most of the game anyway.
ah, madonna made a free pussy comment inst peterbrug during the concert their, and putin wants to talk with her the russians have many right wing orthodox russia, who sa the pusyy riot cathdral stuff ina bad light oddly on of the girls is married to a canadian
I think donovan dempsey and cherundelo all moving closer to 30+ should help us realize their time with us is limited.
I mean donovan may not want to play. cherundelo will be 35 in 2014 and dempsey will be 31 and who knows what his situation will be? will he not be playing? will a young player step in and play better? we dont know yet. too many variables.
Pirlo is 33. Zidane played internationally until he was 34. The list is long of 30+ stalwarts who have had meaningful World Cup tournaments. The only thing holding Donovan or Dempsey or Bocanegra or Cherundolo or whoever back from making the squad is their will.
Pirlo and Zidane are two of the greatest players especially Zidane to ever play the game....ever. Not saying they wont be there at 2014 but I dont know what capacity they will be there.
I think Dolo may be safely replaced by Parkhurst, Lichaj or Chandler in the near future. Were the worst to happen and Deuce get stuck on the bench, losing form, the AM/SS role will suffer a serious dip, but there are still folks who may enter the picture and replace him: Shea, Gatt, Johansson. Boca is proving tough to replace. Top CBs from the USA are a rare breed at this point. Ream, John and Gonzo come to mind, but no one knows yet. I think Donovan is irreplaceable. No other player in the pool has his vision. Even if the speed and passing can be matched, don't see anyone in the short term matching his brains.
I deject your insinuation. As to the new from Krasnodar - JK wants a strong team, not weak, like Ukraine.
Jozy interview on his return to the us team http://www.yanks-abroad.com/content.php?mode=show&id=9641
What do you think he means by "constant speculation regarding his status on the national team?" I mean, sure, we pound that theme 16 hours/day, five days/week, but most of us take an overnight break and post less on weekends, so what does he mean by constant? Wouldn't constant be 24/7, and no one here is that out of balance. Edit: Nice job, btw.
you make it sound like the US is bringing an U23 squad and that's just not the case. The Russians wouldn't be trembling no matter who the US brings.
GREAT Yanks vs CCCP/CIS/Russia read. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/blog/_/name/soccerusa/id/574?cc=5901 And the '92 match highlights! (Wynalda loved playing at the Silverdome huh!?)
Anyone know if there's been mention of a replay on ESPN3 tomorrow evening? All our TV is internet based and can't shake work.
I don't get why anyone is counting Dolo out or would want to. He's show little to no signs of slowing to this point. If it happens, it happens but i don't think its a foregone conclusion. Everyone relax and let it unfold.
