Assuming you're an NFL fan it's no worse than a 49ers fan going to a Seahawks game or vice Versa. Actually I think from experience NFL game atmospheres are much worse
Just got an email about it. http://www.ussoccer.com/schedule-tickets/161111-us-mnt-vs-mexico-match-guide.aspx#prohibited
It will be fine. always some lame people, but to be fair it pales in comparison to being away US supporter in Azteca. Regardless, it will be fine and a few bad phrases or words will be said but are mostly harmless.
As someone who has yelled things like "******** Mexico!" in the past...I will be saying none of that this time, after what has happened in our election. And if I personally see any kind of antagonistic racism and not just jokes about sombreros or tacos I will be stepping in.
Don't think so. I've been there too and the most I saw was chanting. Beer flew all over the stadium but that was for everyone, not exclusive to US fans.
Did you sit in USA away section at Azteca with a red shirt on? If not then my guess is you had a different experience. My point really is that I don't take insults to me personally, zero effect on me and I consider it part of the price of admission if I wear opposing shirt into away games, of any sport. Other people may feel different. It's just a soccer game, not a contrived metaphor for some social geopolitical discussion.
Hard shelled, white boy, suburban mom, chopped up meat.....ain't nothing beating that. Mods, please start a tacos thread as I think we may need it.
Mom made is different.. I meant more in the restaurant ground beef swill.. no arguments from me if mom is involved.. Taurino, rules the roost out in the city
AO bus getting in around 1:30PM. What the hell are we going to do with ourselves for all that time? Google streetview makes it look like there is not much in the immediate vicinity. OSU campus walkable distance ? * even a bad taco is still pretty good
I'm all about the fushion man. I mean the simple corn tortilla meat onion cilantro and lime are good. But drop a kung Pao chicken taco on me any day
Walk over to High Street, it runs north/south from downtown up to OSU campus. Short North area and the campus area (both along High) are good for people watching, coffee shops, cool stores, etc.
On that topic, where did the popularity of Tifo's spring up. I know they've been around the American scene for a while now, but my question is why? The Tifo is seen by the people in the crowd for about 30 secs, probably not by the TV audience, and many times has a pretty esoteric theme that is lost on the vast majority of the observers. I can't imagine that the cost and effort for the Tifo is low, and the benefit is pretty minimal. The Tifo is unfurled, and there is much rejoicing (cue the knights from The Holy Grail). Maybe I'm just too far from the millennials to understand the Tifo thing. Create an inspired chant that we can sing as a crowd. It's free and fun as hell to do.
Because you must copy everything the Brits do. Scarf (no matter if it is summer and 80) Chant (word by word) Tifo. Watch EPL Language(match, pitch, mates, ..etc)
No, but get the h$ll off my lawn and turn down that racket! Also stop texting and driving. Did you do your homework?
Everything except, you know, the whole monarchy thing. We had a pretty strong opinion about that a few years back. The scarf thing is ridiculous too. Personally I'd rather watch the Bundesliga, but you can only watch what is on TV regularly (yes, I know they have a game on Fox here and there). I'm learning German so I can retire in München, follow Bayern and have Bavarian beer and Currywurst for the rest of my days.
I swear if there's not a build that Wall chant I will be disappointed. And I think the scarves will come in handy Friday night. Going to be a bit chilly for this southern boy.
Looks like there will be some sort of cards on every seat in the stadium and there will be a synchronized tifo type display during the player walk out. The US soccer website says to get in your seats early to make sure you are a part of it.
