I don't care about the ages of the players. If a young defender like Yedlin or Klute is a better option than Evans or Beasley, then they should be on the team.
He said "alternatives". We all got it except you. Give it a rest. P.s. I wud add to Rocco's post: Beasley's final ball is a dud.
There wouldn't be so much discussion about it if everyone agreed that Klinsmann called in the right players. Obviously some people disagree.
You hear over and over how each spot is up for competition, how each player has to prove himself...this seems to be accurate for all but three players: MB, JJ and Tim Howard. JJ and Howard in particular have had some awful matches, but get the green light everytime.
In howard's defense: experience is sooooo important in gk's. Support for hypothesis: gk's can play to an incredibly old age in comparison to other positions, long after their athletic prowess has declined significantly. As fr as JJ is concermed, Klinsi called in Euros and that means he was going to have typical "Euro" problems that we have traditionally avoided. In Klinsi's defense, the media was pushing him hard to cap bi-nationals. But that is a whole new can of worms.....
You replied quickly, I added an edit about JJ. In a penalty shootout we want Guzan and it could happen in the wc. That is in Guzan's favor.
My theory is that JJ started playing regular international football too late in his career. He doesn't know how to play and he's not smart enough to learn.
So if I understand the last 50 pages, the majority of posters think Klinsmann should have had the following roster:
Are you serious... give it a rest. I have been defending Beasley and even Evans all summer. These guys are on the roster and most likely starting in a game TODAY. Do you get it... they are going to see the field and actually kick the ball. The guys that need to give it a rest are the guys that are day dreaming about how much better player X would be then Beasley or Evans.
Maybe my memory is faulty, but I thought Bradley was the first one of the regular starters JK kept out of the lineup back in the "no one has names on their jersey and we play 1-11" phase of the JK reign. Was someone else first?
God, dude, ever since you changed your avatar to green girl, your posts have gone way up in quantity, way down in quality, and ********ing off the chart in needless confrontation. My memory is that JK kept MB90 out of a few camps while he sorted out his club situation, made a point to everyone that no spot was guaranteed, and then brought him back into the squad a couple camps later. That strikes me as a message. Now tell me my facts are wrong. Or tell me my assessment of those facts is wrong. But stop trying to provoke people. You're wrecking this board.
