I think Puli is having psychological fatigue, rather than physical fatigue. I think as soon as he was out of the world cup his performance slid. Which suggest to me that hes not over the devastation of missing out on the world cup. The fall from being the the wunderkind to epic failure is probably, close to physically debilitating to him. He looked way off today on several occasions and he didnt play that much more than last year.
Yes, he sucks. No doubt. I think the WC qualifying took a huge toll on him. And 3 coaching changes at Dortmund doesn't help either. But you're correct. He needs to up his level if he expect to continue to stay on the starting 11 for Dortmund next season.
One thing I like is that we finally have some LB options. I don't know that either Robinson or Acosta are great, but both are pretty good at 20 years old, and should be sufficient enough. And then after that, we could have guys like Bello, Gloster who emerge in 2-3 seasons. I'm really tired of seeing players like Villafana, Garza, Beasley at LB.
Fans that cant understand how harmful this coddling is might as well prepare themselves for mediocrity.
You're tired of Beasley already? sorry, but man hv I been tired of Beasley since forever. Gloster aint gonna make it. I know how you feel and you know how I feel. I don't think V/fana is all that bad. Truth be told, I don't see a Marcelo anywhere in the pool.
Here's some fun facts for you. Pulisic played 2,313 BVB mins this season. That's tops for all teens across the top 4 leagues(field players). Only two other teens across the top 4 leagues broke 2,000 mins. Only 6 other teens across the top 4 leagues even broke the 1,500 min barrier. That's more than just "some games". To the point I could ask you to find a single teen non-GK who's played more mins than him this season across the top 4 leagues and you literally could not as that player does not exist.
Marcelo would be our best player ever, so I think you are asking a lot there. What about a Monreal or Ghoulam? That would be more than good if we could get one of these LB's in a consistent role into a team that plays in European competitions every season.
Yup. At minimum Robinson and Acosta give us an athletic and speedy LB that we just haven’t had in some time.
BREAKING- soccer player plays in soccer games. Just as hundreds of players do around Europe every weekend. The fact that he’s 19,20,21,22, etc. is irrelevant.
I don't want to piss anyone off or open a whole can of worms, but I just can't watch Parks and McKennie on the field at the same time tonight and still think there is any room for Michael Bradley in the starting XI at next year’s Gold Cup.
Thanks for changing the topic to "do soccer players play in soccer games". BTW, there's a clear difference in the work load a 18/19 yr old body can handle and that of someone in their physical prime a few years older.
It was about all these young American soccer players. Wait, I guess I was watching the game. Seriously, I'd be surprised if 20% of the words spoken by the commentators were relevant to what was actually going on in the game. And the only reason it's that high is they finally started running out of stories to tell at about the 88 min mark.
I hv Match pass and they use silly commentators who aren't there, literally. I will re-view on Univision
Couldn't agree more. In a game that matters you better make the right play, otherwise the coach is going to give you a tongue lashing. This game was more like "Let's see what develops".
People here are pretty funny. I love BS overreactions and I have been guilty of partaking from time to time after a few beers. The big issue with Bolivia is that they were putting 0 pressure on our backline and midfield. It impossible to get a good read on many of these guys without any pressure being applied. The next games should be a bigger test.
