Hard to be too mad a roster release when we decide to just say f*** it and callup the entire pool

so that's a 27 man squad.....sounds like 4 players will get cut in order to get 23 players.

Squad is fine overall, it'll largely depend on what cuts are made. Williams and Garza were in my 23, but those were fringe players who I don't feel that strongly about anyway. I wonder if we'll make the 4 cuts before or after Venezuela?

No big surprises. Only Lichaj and Kjlestan the odd men out. Someone in the midfield made it in Jones' absence.

Hope it is Morris, Ream, Arriola, Zusi or Dax so they can play in Gold Cup. They will cut one gk, ofc.

No Feilhaber... plain stupid to leave the best #10 off the roster, AGAIN.

Zusi, Bedoya, Beasley and Dax? Horrible call ups.

Zusi again listed as a defender. This is going to be Arena's annoying pet project despite 6 better options at RB IMO (Yedlin, Chandler, Fab, Cameron, Orzoco, and Evans

    EDIT: Forgot Lichaj so 7

I have been one of his biggest critics but Benny Feilhaber has put together one of the best USMNT CM seasons in MLS so far.

Cut those three and Rimando, and that's a pretty good roster!

    Indeed.

I get that Guzan has had 7 straight games but why is Rimando called in? Hamid or Bingham would have been better. Though neither would play and same as Rimando so perhaps far better to stay with your club then train for a few weeks as no3

I just don't get it. Also why is Bedoya there?

Zusi has been a solid MLS right back. His play deserves a call-up. He gives you versatility during a tournament. That being said, if he struggles at right back, I think he is done internationally.

Rimando hasn't even had a good year. And we've got Howard and Guzan for veteran presence. I don't get why he's there. At all. He must be a glue guy or something...

    Very predictable.

We'll see if predictable is good enough.

I'm a little surprised with Wood making the team as he's been banged up. Maybe it's not as bad as we thought it was?

Who's missing that's good? Agudelo for Morris, at least on form, plus Morris has been struggling with injury. But, Morris, not Agudelo, has been a part of the USMNT setup for a while now. That's a wash.

Zusi, Rimando, Beasley, Bedoya. If they all get cut, this roster looks extremely strong.

Fullbacks can attack and defend. Good CB options. Midfield is pretty top quality, with the assumption that we see some of the young guns in GC2017. Forwards are basically the top 4, aside from Morris.

What else can Arena do? He has to win now. And if we can get a result in Azteca...

BB, JK and now Bruce hasn't called him up. Maybe that says something about his international quality?

I think it means that Benny's still a pariah. I don't know what makes him such a jerk that he doesn't get called up, but it's clearly not just "JK/BB/Bruce is dumb".

Being the best in MLS is like being the tallest midget in the room. Three USMNT coaches, including an MLS lifer in Arena, has failed to call him up so that probably says a ton about how he is viewed on the international scene.

If we play Chandler in Azteca he may literally melt into a puddle onto the field.

We could play a prime Roberto Carlos at RB and still lose. Just hoping the team puts up a good fight.
