Just because I want Monkee to slag us constantly so he can eat those same words in June! Plus it gives me another reason to avoid the entire USA area of this board and all the mongo's that populate it.

Here's my preferred formation for the WC

    ---------------Keller--------------
    Lewis--Onyewu--Cherundolo--Albright
    --------------Reyna--------------
    Donovan------------------Beasley
    -------------Dempsey-------------
    ------McBride------Twellman------

What crack are you on and may I have some? Cherundolo is a midget and doesn't know how to play CB, that's why he's a RB. Think Gibbs, Pope, Berhalter, and if you hop on the BS bandwagon, Bocanegra in the center spot. Albright? Are you giving out Philly love there? Next thing you'll be advocating for Jeff Park! Won't argue with your midfield, though probably not Dempsey because he hasn't shown much when with the Nats. I'd put Twellman on the bench and if he's healthy start Johnson.

I really want to get into watching USNMT, so i could cheer for them in WC and that's why i will be going to their game against Japan at SBC Park on Feb.10th.

I know most players, but i can't say i have watched enough to make any judgement. I also wanted to start supporting the Quakes, but they are moving to Houston now.

    Anyways, go Ukraine! :p

I'll choose my lineup one month before the WC.

Cherundolo at center half..... *chuckles* Twellman starting....*barfs*

It's too early to call a starting lineup but I think it's obvious we are one man short in the midfield.

I rate Cherundolo unlike most. I think he's a decent player and better than Eddie Pope.

    Don't doubt Twellman!

So, do you really think you've got a shot of getting out of the group then?

Well, yeah... but he's a midget. He can't play center back. His speed and crossing ability are made for right wingback.

Wow, Eddie, I think n400 might be right about the crack thing........;)

Pope is certainly only a shell of his former self.....but Stevie at CB.....yikes.
He's way too small. I think he's just fine as RB.....but we'd get destroyed on crosses with him in the center.

HE just isn't a CB, he is a RB. Onyweu, Gibbs, Bocanegra, Berhalter, we have enough depth there to not play him out of position. It would be like playing Paulo ferreira at CB(but much worse), when our other guys are available.

You know what...I confused Berhalter and Cherundolo. I was sitting here wondering why everyone is getting all over me about that and how small he is so I looked them up on USSoccer.com and found:

    Cherundolo: 5-6 145
    Berhalter: 6-1 175

    My bad!

I think that's a given! He's been our best player (arguably) for the last 18 months.

Nah, that's why I started the thread here. I can't be bothered with the mongo's in the USA part of this site.

    Yeah, I can see that.

I was wondering if anyone has been keeping up with Beasley at PSV. I haven't heard anything about him in forever, and I was wondering how he has been performing. I think how far the USA can go depends alot on his form.

    Doesn't look he's doing as well, 2 G's in 10 games.

    But look at Convey: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/stats?id=33093&cc=5901

Not that bad though he's not the offensive, creative forward that Beasley is.

It appears that he isn't having the season he had last year. Shame. I didn't know that PSV used him as a striker though. I always assumed that he was an attacking left winger, unless they are playing that 4-3-3 formation with him on the left up top.

Convey looks to be doing well, but he is in a lower league than Beasley which may account for the difference.

Don't let the fact that he's in the coca-cola league take away from his performances. There are many fine teams in the coke league, Reading are doing quite well, if he wasn't turning in quality performances, he wouldn't be starting.

I'm not knocking Convey playing in the coca-cola, but clearly that level of play can not be compared to Beasley winning the Dutch League and making it far in the Champions League last season.

Though i appreciate the love for Twellman since he hasn't fairlly had a chance to prove his quality by playing with the FULL FIRST TEAM, a big difference for all you Twellman haters, to put our best wingback in the central where no one remembers him ever playing that position along with Twellman ahead of a possibly healthy and back in form Eddie Johnson, to go with a talented, but unproven Dempsey in the lineup is absolutely silly, no insult intended.

Beasley plays on the right up top for PSV, Farfan plays on the left.

Donovan is playing in MLS, as is Eddie Johnson and a few others, but they will be starters, should they not be due to their league strength?

Beasley should start on the right for us, solving our biggest problem, Convey on the left.
