Apparently, Costa Rica also complained to FIFA about the put0 chants at Navas, and possibly complained that the police wrongfully confiscated Costa Rican fan banners. This is being considered as a part of the disciplinary investigation. http://www.marca.com/claro-mx/futbol/seleccion-mx/2017/03/30/58dc65bfe5fdeadc218b468f.html
Makes more sense to have an empty stadium then to move it. If they ever actually did do some sort of punishment. That chat is done all though Mexico (and international away games) not just the capital.
That's fair and the typical punishment. But it would be a huge bummer because I really want to attend the game. I guess I'd make up for it by flying to Denver for the home match.
That's probably our security blanket. If they are going to hit them this quickly it will probably be this game.
Informative, if speculative: http://futmexnation.com/2017/04/04/el-tri-view-if-no-azteca-then/ And: http://futmexnation.com/2017/03/22/...teca-why-the-chant-is-causing-major-problems/
So where's this damn match going to be? Should I buy plane tix to D.F.? Show of hands, am I the only one on hold? Maybe I should buy them and be ready to take internal flight to Monterrey, Guadalajara...a bus, that would be fun [rant over, this is maddening]
We are on hold as well. There are some cheap domestic flights on Aerobus and Interjet. Mexico City to Monterrey is a long bus ride. Mexico City to Guadalajara is medium long.
If I were you I guess I'd wait it out. I already book my flight from TJ to D.F but looks like it's only $30 from there to Guadalajara or Monterrey.
Right there with you on hold. I gauged some options on Kayak and, as others have noticed, it wouldn't be too expensive to fly out to another city for 24 hours ($79 roundtrip from Mexico City to Monterrey). I think I'll pull the trigger on plane tickets to Mexico City and cross my fingers that my gameday commute is by metro and not plane.
#USMNT note: World Cup qualifier at Azteca vs MEX will kick off no earlier than 7 pm local time on June 11 (Sunday)— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) April 10, 2017 Steve Goff on Twitter "#USMNT note: World Cup qualifier at Azteca vs MEX will kick off no earlier than 7 pm local time on June 11 (Sunday)"
The late start time was a good will type of thing by the Mex Fed because we agreed to play the game 2 days early. Will be great to avoid the heat, will definitely be plenty sauced by game time, etc...
I booked mine. I took the big gamble that the US home game would be in Denver, which thankfully it was. Worst case I will be buying one of the $50 flights from DF to Monterrey or Chiapas or where ever Saturday night or Sunday morning. But I'm fairly content that it will be in DF.
Guess I haven't been to Mexico City in June but I never got the impression that it was any hotter than a typical Texas or Florida summer.
we have two months until the match, not much of a rush to buy tickets really....but i believe itll (unfortunately) be in DF
Funny though once US soccer announced the Denver date the United flights from DEN to MEX actually dropped in price
For what it's worth I tweeted at Tom Marshall with this concern since he covers all things Mexican futbol and he was nice enough to reply back. His opinion is that this game will take place at Azteca and will not be moved since it is very close now in terms of organization and both federations would have to scramble. It is looking like this game will take place as scheduled. It shows at Azteca on FMF's and FIFA's calendars and fixtures.
So how easy it is it to find tickets 3rd party wise is I don't want to buy the AO package and am not a registered US Soccer supporter? Flights from Texas to Mexico City are $207 right now and buddy works for the Marriott so we are getting his discount for hotel.
