USA England, Wembley Stadium, May 28 2008

Discussion in 'USA Men: Fans & Travel' started by Galaxian, Mar 20, 2008.

  1. This is what I think ...

As a nation, a people, a culture, individuals, a soccer power, and a political ally, I think as highly of England as a whole and as individuals as I think I can. Nothing but the highest of respect for our mother country and her government and queen. If there is a nation I would fight and die for other than the USA, it would be England and the whole of the United Kingdom.

As a football opponent, screw those bastages. Beat them into their own FCUKing turf. Show them who the FCUK we are on their soil. Put American football stripes back in Wembley as boldly as after the Giants-Dolphins game, only this time, put stripes on the backs of those Limey players.

    Win, Yankees. Win.

Yeah, but are you trying to be like the English fans? I think the points been made that we're obvioulsy more hardcore of a fanbase than them. It takes a lot more pride to dress up in a full on costume than to be "cautious" and "respectful." I say go big or go home!

so, what do you guys think. would this hat be considered offensive to our england antagonists? it's essentially flipping off everyone with the english "two fingered salute". then again, in the usa fan section, it would just be a v-for-victory sign....

im definitely not trying to be like the English, but there are some matches when i think dressing up just feels right ( like when we play mexico ) , but for this one, I am just not gonna wear flag pants haha.

speaking of dressing up for the game...

Our Mexican trio will not be in red, white, or blue. We'll be rocking those new anthracite jerseys that just came in the mail today. They run a little big, but oh well.

    They're sweet!

I'm soooo damn ready to go, I'm having a hard time staying productive.

Too bad we wont see Jozy, but I'm still pretty confident. It will be a very similar team to the one that beat Poland on March 26th, hopefully Wolff in for EJ though.

We need to give Landon a bunch of praise the whole game, this will be his 100th cap.

here in LA , we have a song for Landon when he scores or walks by us.

O landon donovan, o landon donovan, o landon donovan, o landon donovan.

its not anything very creative, but he always acknowledges it.

I bought mine online and it fits me nicely, although not as tight as the Home kit.

Does anyone know of any available tickets in the US section? I found out two days ago that I'll be in London for the game. I'd love to go if there are any tickets floating around.

I have no clue why they moved it back a bit, but we should all plan on meeting at the Green Man at around six to walk over to the field together, and I can distribute the shirts.

    Hopefully everyone gets this !

I am not planning on it. I'm not even planning on wearing socks or shinguards , but I will be wearing my dark blue US shorts.

Hopefully everyone finds out when to meet.

Yeah hopefully everyone else checks the thread for all the info. I'll sport the socks and shinguards, although I can't find my cleats so I'm just going with regular athletic shoes.

Plus, a stringent English ref might not let you play without them...

Ok, I say let's go with blue shorts and socks (dark, if possible).
Shinguards really are a good idea, especially as metal studed cleats are the norm here! (Even the little kids wear 'em.)
However, if the ground is dry, you should be ok for grip with molded or even turf shoes.
I'll try to remember to bring a spare pair of shoes (sz 11) and shinguards (and blue socks!) for whoever needs 'em.

I can do that, I've got some nice navy blue Nike shorts and red socks. As for the cleats...yeah I haven't been able to find mine, so I'm going with the Samba's because I'm too cheap to buy new boots, haha. Well, normally I'd buy new ones, but this trip is costing me a fortune!

OK I just got a call from US soccer , and they said they have finally put together a supporters party for US fans, but it is the night before, the same time as our Supporters Party we had already planned.

I'm still going to the Green Man after the Fan Match, and I hope you guys do the same. I'm not happy with USSF, it took them this long to set something up, and it over rides what we are doing.

I leave tomorrow morning, so I will see you all at the Green Man on tuesday night !

    Come on US !

Where is the supporters party? If it's near Wembley, then it's not a huge problem. You'd think the USSF would be better organized than this, but oh well. I leave on Sunday, can't wait! Is anyone else continuing their trip to Europe after the match? I'm going to be in Rome when we play Spain (couldn't make it work to be in Santander then), so it should be a chore to find a place showing our game then!

We're heading to Paris for a few days, as it was cheaper to fly home from there...should be a good time.

Wow, US Soccer's a little late to the party circuit, huh? I'd consider making an appearance, but since there are no details to be found yet, I'm planning on getting my drink on at the Green Man.

    Leaving on Saturday.

    See y'all soon.

    Go US!
