Tickets: check R/O days off: check Where do I stay? From browsing these threads I realize that some people are staying near the stadium and some downtown. I plan on partying (heavily) and I was wondering where the like-minded people would be staying. For you Columbus people or for those that have been to Columbus before where is the best hotel/area to stay? Thanks in advance. Are there bars that will be catering to US supporters on the night prior/day off?
I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Downtown-Capitol Square. The Columbus Brigade has done some great work to set up Claddagh's (sp?) as the bar where there will be drink specials the night before and on game day so I expect a lot of people to be there. The bar will also be providing a shuttle to and from the stadium from the bar. The Holiday Inn is just about a mile away from the bar so it's a walkable distance.
I'm at the Holiday Inn downtown. Other places I have stayed - Doubletree (where the team will most likely be) and Red Roof Inn. Both are fine. Do not stay near the stadium or airport, if you plan on drinking downtown. -G-
I'm at the Holiday Inn - Capitol Sq. this time as well....It's a quick walk to the Claddah. I've stayed at the Westin and the The Columbus - Renaissance on prior trips...IMO The Columbus is much better than the Westin. But the Westin would be an easier walk than The Columbus which is closer to the Arena District... I wouldn't stay around the stadium...you can get just as good a rate downtown... Just one more month!!
Got 4 booked at the holiday in downtown its about a mile walk to the Brigade bar where we will be doing the majority of our drinking and taking the shuttle to and from the game
4 on a road trip from Philly...staying at the Days Inn Columbus Fairgrounds across from the stadium. $60/night including taxes. http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInn/contr...ce_nostay=true
German Village Inn (920 South High Street - 614-443-6506) Not a fancy place, but it's only $60 a night for two queen beds and it's close to the bar and shuttle. Also, don't have to pay for parking like some of the downtown hotels.
HOTEL Drury Inn Convention Center Columbus http://www.druryhotels.com/properties/columbuscvc.cfm Rate: $116 per room per night (includes 16.75% Ohio hotel tax) Hotel: $116 for 2-to-a-room ($77 if split three ways)($58 four ways...etc)
the hotel isn't much to look at, but its a safe neighborhood and an easy walk on a well lit street to the bar. good choice.
Riot Squad are mostly staying at the Doubletree downtown where the action is, not near the stadium...sounds really dull up there, except for the match.
