Just a quick question from a newbie. Are there any YA playing in Asia? I would be interested in people who are playing even at lower levels in places like Thailand, Vietnam, India, whatever. I am working on getting teams to support in those regions and wondering if we have Yanks anywhere there.

Wynalda almost went to China. I seem to remember hearing about a former American MLS player playing in Asia but I can't remember who it was...

I think Dan Calichman played in Japan for a season.

Michael Pao used to play in Indonesia. And I think Gerardo Laterza plays(ed?) in Hong Kong.

    Besides those Colin mentioned:

Jeff Yu -- Played/plays in Korea
Mike Powell -- May have played in Japan, not sure
Mike Preis -- May have played in Indonesia last season
Darren Sawatzky -- may have spent some time in Korea
Hugo Perez -- played in Saudi Arabia
Neathan Gibson -- I think he may be a US citizen now, anyway he played in Japan and Malaysia

Laterza is the former MLS player (Galaxy).

    Sawatzky did play in Korea:

"I was in the MLS and decided it wasn't for me anymore, and I went over and played in South Korea, but it wasn't very long before I was ready to settle down at home. (Sounders management) basically said we don't have money for you. That was OK for that season, because I came in late," he said.

Yes, but I haven't been able to figure out the name of the team.
