Wavin Flag is pretty memorable, lots of my friends who aren't soccer fans still remember its lyrics from 2010. Waka Waka is quite good too, although I prefer the Spanish version. This tournament's song.. pretty unimpressive, not good let alone memorable. I do like Shakira's WC song this year (the lalala one), and Dar Um Jeito isn't bad.
I don't know whether to be proud or ashamed that I understood that reference immediately. On the other hand, I KNOW I should be ashamed to have seen that movie.
Your right teams have caught on a little to to tiki taka, But Spain have other ways of playing. Xavi has declined but they are stacked with other attacking midfielders who are quicker and they are capable of playing more direct if necessary. If Diego Costa (Who is supposed to be healthy by now) can bring anything close to the form that he has showed for Athletico Madrid the last few years that would make them even more dangerous, and would give them a different dynamic in attack. I also dont think one game in the Confederations is representative of how Spain will play in this tournament especially if they rematch against Brazil. I do agree that Brazils physicality, speed, and counterattacking ability create match up problems for Spain. It was stunning to see them get dismantled like that. However, I dont think if they played again that anything like that would happen again and I would probably still give the slight edge to Spain. But I see your point.
I am at work and it sucks because I love reading BS to kill time. I can't because I want to watch the game later. Being that many of these games are during working hours in the US....there should be a strict no tweeting/facebooking/texting rule. No: "OMG DID YOU SEE THAT" or "OMG I CANT BELIEVE IT" I will be rooting for Croatia. Never was a fan of Brazil since the Confed Cup when they beat us. This sense of entitlement their fans have is breathtaking. They make it seem like that cup should be given to them without playing. They also are very dirty which for some reason always gets overlooked. I want to see some tactical football by Croatia and get a point or steal a 1-0 victory.
Blogger for BigSoccer, mostly focuses on LigaMX and the Mexican NT. I think he's from Austin, TX though.
I'm torn between my desire for Brazil to lose, and my desire to not see the country of Brazil descend into chaos as a result.
This is my first WC with a real job and unfortunately its crunch time on finishing a project with a launch date in the end of July that I happen to be leading but I for damn sure will be streaming these day games on my phones and skipping out when the US is playing.
Yep, and just to be clear, I personally think it's essentially a toss up between the top 4 teams. They all have various issues/strengths that could cause one to win over another. But I think the reasons I listed are why a lot of people are picking someone other than Spain to win. Germany and Argentina both weren't in the Confederations Cup, but I think if they were there instead of Spain and lost to Brazil, you'd see fewer people picking them and more picking Spain. Brazil over Spain is one of the few relatively recent examples we have of how the top teams might stack up against each other.
