You can count me in from Florida. One from DC and another 2 from Atlanta. The Poll didn't look like eveyone is voting on it, so I thought I would post here. Will there be other things to drink? I'm training for a 60 mile walk (for Breast Cancer) can't drink too much since I'm doing so much training. Looking forward in beating Mexico again in Columbus.

Is this tailgate open to everybody? Even non Sam's members? We are just four hardcore US supporters looking to tailgate with other American fans......

I had a lot of folks asking exactly where we're setting up shop...so...

The grill and stuff will be set up where the hat is, we'll radiate out from there...

General parking in the grass is just to the south of this picture -- all the concrete is VIP.

Rich, for those of us who did not buy scarves, is there some mechanism for us to kick some $ into the hat to help pay for the food etc.? I know you aren't requiring it, but I'd be happy to if there's some way to.

If you want you can PayPal money to us, but I am not requiring it.

Budweiser has fallen thru on their Saturday promises -- they are still doing stuff on Friday night at the pub like free beers and the Bud Girls -- so I have to go out and buy the stuff they were talking about providing (plates, napkins, utensils, side dishes, water and pop) sometime this week.

If you want to help, PayPal whatever donation you'd like to make to...

I just broke down a whole ribeye (that I've been dryaging for four weeks) into steaks and plan on bringing them, plus a bunch of hand made sausages (Chorizo, Brats, we'll see what else I have time for). Will trade food for beer ;)

Cuz I hate the beer ... but I'll definitely take the girls. :D

I haven't seen this realy answered except for fid's standard (and appropriate) reply that it's officially prohibited.

Something everybody (not to get preachy but then again, what the hell) needs to bear in mind is that the parking lots (with the exception of the paved areas which are VIP and controlled by HSG security and/or Columbus Police Dept) are owned by the Ohio Exposition Center, a quasi-governmental arm of the State of Ohio (Motto: "Our Governor Likes Presents").

As such, there is a zero-tolerance policy on alcohol.

Now as a practical matter, there is of course tailgating at Crew games, plenty of beer, nobody says anything. During the Ohio State Fair, when the lots are shared with Mom and Dad and the kids in from East Bumfvck for the day, they clamp down hard. There have been some tense moments.

The expectation, based on past experience, is that there will be no problem with alcohol. There's seldom if ever been a problem.

But everyone needs to be aware that the potential exists, that you ARE technically breaking the law and that if you are a little too drunk and obnoxious somewhere near a cop you may have a problem.

Like with most cops, a certain respectful attitude goes a long ways with the Ohio State Patrol. People who have been here before will verify: they are not widely known for having a sense of humor.

Be cool and a little discreet, particularly when you're obviously near a cop, and you should be fine. Columbus Police (in and near the stadium) are more likely to be flexible and will not be in a big hurry to toss you in the back of a cruiser.

I have a couple questions. Im comming from SE michigan. Mostly US-23/OH-15 on the way down I beleive. Any major construction down that way in OH. Also most of my US apparel has gotten a bit small for me. Anybody know of some places in Cbus I could pickup a jersey or other USMNT apparel before the game?
Comming down by myself so I look forward to meeting you guys this weekend. GO USA!

Where were the free beers and Bud Girls on Friday night? Because I have a $340 bar tab that could have been a helluva lot smaller if there was free beer involved. :D

We ended up leaving about 2 hours later than planned so I, unfortunately, missed the tailgate... but still being able to sling vulgarities in the parking lot made me feel a little better.
