German Village might be your best bet for all things German. It's south of Downtown. Of course, you probably can find all sorts of German beer whenever beer is sold (liquor stores, grocery stores, etc.) The parking lots open at 3:30 PM on Saturday.
I thought i read somewhere that OS will be showing classic USMNT games. Is this true and if so does anyone know which games?
Unfortunately, unless a network/cable is showing these, this is incorrect. OS does not have a VCR/DVD hookup. They do have FSC (I don't know what's on Friday night???)
Red Zone. Oakenfold played there a few weeks back. There used to be a place called Mekka very close to the Arena District, but that may have closed years ago. I used to hit that spot when I was a student many years ago.
My gameplan for Friday night: 1. Leave work 2. Walk the 10' required for me to enter O'Shaughnessy's 3. Enjoy the night with friends. Safe travels to anyone driving in.
you lucky bastard My gameplan is 1. leave first thing in the morning 2. drive about 12 hours 3. drop my stuff off at my friends place 4. if theres time head to the bar if not, I will see you all there Saturday afternoon
Flying out of LAX in about 4 1/2 hours, arriving in C-bus mid-morning & will be READY to party tomorrow night!! Looking forward to seeing "old" friends & making new ones!!!
I'm going to bed, I'll be heading out first thing in the morning. If you see me at the pub, say hi, maybe I'll buy you a beer.
Yeah, I got Red Zone in my to-do list. OK boys and girls, i'm off to bed, waking up at 7:00 A.M., leaving at 8:00 A.M. I should be in Columbus by 6 P.M. at the latest, just in time for dinner and some beers. Cya all there!
Finishing up packing now. Will get my electronic boarding pass in 90 minutes, and be flying out of town in about 12 hours.
Red Zone is only open about once a month for events like said Oakenfold show. Unfortunately, there's nothing going on there this weekend. Mekka was one of my favorites, but it closed so they could turn the building into condos.
should be some very drunk hopefully singing US supporters at the friday night party by now.. hope they save their voices for tomorrow and have a pint for me
Ah My Lucky Friends, I will only be there in spirit as you lift the glasses to our boys! I am stuck in the middle of the Pacific chewing my nails in anticipation. Since Saipan doesnt get ESPN Classic, I will have to wait a few more hours for the rebroadcast on ESPN2. Rave on and have a pint or two for me. Go Yanks! See you in Deutchland. Vince
Pretty sure I recall hearing Mekka had closed. That was VERY "New York" style. Isn't there a place out on the East Side, almost to Reynoldsburg? Can't remember the name. Is the Alrosa Villa still open, or did they run out of performers who didn't mind being shot at? Not really the same thing anyway - the Alrosa was always more an endurance marathon - would the drugs wear off before your eardrums exploded.
Wow. If you only knew Last night was insane, but after a win tonight we'll make last night look like a prayer group more here
(Note: these here pictures are the property of Andy Mead and his greasy little rag, Emerald City Gazette and Yellow Card Journalism, whatever the hell that is. They are his and nobody can steal them, which would be tough anyway because he stomps all over the bastards with logos, imprints, proof marks and whatnot so's you can hardly see the damned things anyway. Just thought I'd mention it)
Two straight days of singing has left me hoarse & happy. Posting this from the Columbus airport as I pop cough drops.
Friday night was great - it was really nice to put faces (and names) to the screen names. I had a blast, and even made it into one of Andy's crowd shots there. I must have had 30 people come up an introduce themselves, and I apologize profusely if I seemed befuddled to any of you; I'm bad with names to begin with, and was a little overwhelmed. Oh yeah, the game was fun too.
