Confirmed that the top prospect in this pool has accepted the invite. Exciting.

LOL. Who says he is the top prospect? You?

These are under15 kids. There is no top prospect at this age. LOL

I happened to come across a feature about ID2's Allan Rodriguez-Lopez. It's maybe a bit breathless, but interesting to read a story about a guy from a place like Elkhart doing well.

Same could have been said for Kiki Wallace, a former Indiana University soccer player who’s the head coach of the Indiana Fire Academy’s U13/U14 club teams based out of Carmel. Scouting a travel game one day, Wallace noticed Rodriguez-Lopez, then only 12, working serious midfield magic. Dribbling around every defender. Finding teammates for high-quality shots on goal. Sometimes scoring a couple for himself but often more interested in setting others up for opportunities. Wallace was drawn immediately to Rodriguez-Lopez and called back to one of his bosses with a scouting report.

“He was easily the best player on the field,” Wallace said. “Technically, he’s very gifted.”

Wallace’s boss wasn’t as easily convinced about the kid’s talent or his Fire future. Where was he from? Elkhart? That was a two-hour plus drive from the Fire training center. Might be a tough sell to get him on the roster. A lot of long trips down U.S. 31 would be required. Was it all worth it?

Wallace was asked to rank Rodriguez-Lopez in relation to current members of his U13/U14 squads.

“I said he’d be the best player on the team,” Wallace said. “My boss said, ‘No way. You’ve got to sign him.’”
