First and foremost, many superstars took interest in J-league at the beginning. But nowadays, nobody really cares about J-league.

They don't need old players like Wanchope anymore.
Washington and Ponte are 1000 times better.

Who is this, a Power-of-foot sock?

Many superstars took interest because they were wanted and given the money. Now, younger talent is needed to compete.
In pro-wrestling like WWE(WWF), sometimes you would see 60-year old guys running around just because they were famous. That is OK because the outcome of the matches are pre-determined. It is not going to work in J-league though.
