No he has never scored in a world cup. He scored in a shoot out vs. Holland but that doesn't count as a goal.

Sometimes I think you just come on here and make stuff up without any basis of fact- where did you think Aguero scored in the world cup?

All the numbers scored by this generation of players are completely irrelevent when in comes to the national team. For example, if River and Boca play a friendly in Mar del Plata, no one count these goals in terms of all-time stats, yet Messi scores a hat-trick against a Brasil U23 team in New Jersey and the goals count? Aguero runs rampant against Bolivia and these goals count?

The older generation didn't have dozens of useless friendlies every season against 3rd opposition like this one does. Batistuta had 10 world cup goals, he also was the top scorer in two copa americas WON by Argentina, Crespo is the all-time top scorer in the eliminatorias for Argetnina- these stats matter, not scoring against bolivia in houston

I was counting the penalty goal, but you are right it does not count which means that choker Aguero actually has zero goals at the WC, yet some of the fanboys here think he is the savior for Argentina in the future while Tevez is rubbish. Argentina needs to get rid of all of them except Messi, Pastore and DiMaria and bring in the new generation of players to the NT. Eight years of the same is enough, even the WC winning generation of Passarella, Kempes, Fillol, Bertoni, Bochini, Ardiles, Tarantini, Alonso, Gallego, Houseman, did not last eight years.

What the hell are you on? You want to get rid of experienced players and bring in a bunch of kids?

I like Vietto who hasn't been called up, Krane, and some others. But Aguero needs to start. As does Banega.

Yeah get rid of all the players performing well at top leagues and replace them with inexperienced players.

I want to get rid of consistent failures like Aguero, just going by the logic of some of the posters here.

If you wanna have Tevez in your team then he should be the vocal point of the attack but we already have Messi being the creator and goalscorer. Tevez isnt someone who as supporting cast.

Too bad it happened at the wrong match.

Good list, I would place Mussachio or Pezzella ahead of Otamendi. And I feel Dybala, Vietto, Icardi will all do better than Aguero. Lavezzi is actually a better option too as he gives Argentina variety in the attack.

And you want to keep "zero goals at the WC" Aguero

Aguero and Messi can give it a try for the 2016 tournament but Masch must be replaced in the middle. If Tata has the balls to do that, Argentina have a good chance.

2018 is far too far away. I doubt Aguero will be our best striker by then. Higuain and Tevez, forget about it.

Pretty sure that's been called off since last summer. The next FIFA Friendly Calendar Date is the 21'st-29th of March.

There might be a friendly prior to the Centenario; the game could be against Guatemala at the LA Coliseum.

Thanks SupaMario. I wonder if Messi is going to be there, with his court case 3 days before the tournament start.

Beside the Italy (or possibly France, if it gets canceled) friendly in March, it looks like we're lining up a second friendly 4 days later. Apparently it would come out of one of these three rivals: Belgium, Morocco, or Saudi Arabia

Belgium would be best. Another test. We won't learn much playing against the other two. Saudi Arabia are terrible.

They're trying to schedule a game vs. Catalonia in Camp Nou before the WC.... also, China has sent a proposal for a friendly match in April/May, which AFA is analyzing.

Neither of the two are confirmed, but there are talks ongoing.

It seems that match v Catalonia will not occur but instead, on June 9th, Argentina will play Israel in Tel Aviv. Not exactly sure if this is a great idea being our match is exactly one week after this friendly.
