Pulisic clearly saw Lovitz making that overlap and thought, "hmm, better try this myself. That guy's not doing anything with it."

Holden has never heard cul de sac used before. His last best hope is to get in with the great unwashed masses before Fox fires his ass.

Has Johnson had to make a save tonight?

Looking at all of the other options objectively, we need to give more strikers a chance. Zardes isn''t it.

    We need cover.

Hell, I’d settle for Mastroeni level type.

Zardes is averaging a goal every 220 minutes this season.

Jozy is averaging one every 123.

Their ratios at international level are even more disparate.

That doesn't even consider how much better Altidore is in build-up play than Zardes.

If Jozy is healthy (obviously a big IF), he is extremely obviously the better option of the two.

Was it the over hit high corner kick?
The US player that was tall enough, jumped high enough to save it?
The Panama defender who headed when the GK came out?

    Or

    Jozy who rode his bike

Well, start throwing out competent American striker names. Sargent started well for Bremen and disappeared. Then he couldn't make the cut for this tournament per GB. Wooten wasn't considered despite performing in a MLS caliber league and sealing a move to MLS where we get these other players from.

Our media can’t differentiate between a crap performance and beating crap teams.

This game was horrendous. I am going to have to watch some pep's Barcelona best games in youtube to counteract the effect of this game.

We played like CRAP but we won. We should beat bottom feeders like Panama by at least six even playing the second or the third or the fourth team.

The horrid thing is that we really are probably the 3rd best team in CONCACAF and that means that we can look forward to a LOT more crappy soccer in the coming year or two because Greg B will think he is doing things right and US soccer will believe him.

What does Roldan getting dispossessed have to go with Berhalter understanding anything?

I think he understands that Roldan is not the guy.

I really don't care. They both are bad options to me. But bad options are better than zero options. Name 5 other candidates to be starting at CF/S in the Gold Cup... That pool of options is brutal.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut. He had bad service on the FKs, multiple times lost the ball, and his "quality corner" was a floated ball back post that we used to crucify MB for all the time (MB also did that on FKs too, which was annoying). Even still, it required a bicycle kick to go in off of a defender.

Just like they drew it up!

Part of me has to step back and be amazed that FOX actually has a Gold Cup post-game show. Amazing to me as someone who could only watch the Gold Cup in Spanish when I was growing up. Despite everything, we've come a long way in this sport in this country.

They planed the double bank off the defender and Zardes' face in the earlier game as well. Those kinds of goals can't be accidents, they require too much skill.

    It wasn't clear.

What was clear is, aside from Miazga (who got burned less and took over 2nd half), Cannon, Morris, and Altidore, the 2nd unit has no business on the USMNT.

Roldan awful all game. Mihailovic awful all game. Lewis good runs no end product. Trapp bad, then anonymous. Lovitz given space, gives up the ball. Omar too slow, turned multiple times (Miazga was never turned).

Morris ran hard. Altidore held up the ball OK. Cannon did a couple of decent things and hustled, shut down the right side with Miazga.

Johnson is incomplete. One easy save, nothing to do.
