United States v Mexico Stadium: Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California Watch: FS1, Univision, UDN Kickoff 9:30pm ET (from mlssoccer.com) ___________________________________ PLAYERS TO WATCH Michael Bradley, USA: As the son of a former USMNT coach and a US international since adolescence, the captain can truly say he's spent his whole life preparing for moments like this. He's the most influential and dynamic midfielder available to Klinsmann, with a history of scoring big goals against El Tri. Will his coach assign him a tactical tasking that makes the most of his abilities? Javier Hernandez, Mexico: With a recent move to Bayer Leverkusen, “Chicharito” seems to have finally found stability and confidence at the club level. Fairly or not, he carries the burden of sky-high expectations in his country's colors, with the emotions of millions rising and falling on his every touch. He's got even more to prove this weekend: He's never scored against the United States. ___________________________ Traveling Roster Goalkeepers: Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake) Defenders: Ventura Alvarado (Club America), DaMarcus Beasley (Houston Dynamo), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders), Michael Orozco (Tijuana), Tim Ream (Fulham), Jonathan Spector (Birmingham City), DeAndre Yedlin (Sunderland) Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Bobby Wood, Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Monchengladbach), Jermaine Jones (New England Revolution), Danny Williams (Reading), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City) Forwards: Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes), Gyasi Zardes (Galaxy) Possible XI Altidore DempseyFabian Bradley Jones Zardes Beasley Ream Cameron Yedlin
My XI: ----------------------Altidore------------------------ ----Jones----------Dempsey------------Yedlin--- -------------Bradley-----------Beckerman-------- (Though I've been warming up to the idea of Danny Williams) ---Beasley--Besler-------Orozc0------Johnson -----------------------Howard------------------------ My predicted XI: -------------Altidore----------------Dempsey----------- ------------------------Bradley----------------------------- ------------Jones-----------------Zardes------------------- ---------------------Beckerman----------------------------- -----Beasley------Besler-----Alvarado-------Johnson-- ---------------------Guzan------------------------------------- Score prediction: USA 2 Mexico 0 with goals from Dempsey and a center back
It's possible. I personally don't like Geoff as a CB which is why he's not in mine, and Jurgen seems to like Alvarado which is why I don't have Geoff in that one
My lineup would be -----------------Altidore------------------ Johnson-------Dempsey----------Zardes ----------Jones-----------Bradley--------- DB-------Besler----Cameron------Yedlin -----------------Howard-------------------- Would much rather have Cameron in the midfield but our defensive depth is bad. To be honest I would be shocked if Mexico doesn't win. Our form has been dreadful and I think there is more pressure on the US to perform for Klinsmann.
This is what I'd roll out... Zardes-------Dempsey----------Yedlin ------Jones---Williams---Bradley----- DB-------Besler----Cameron------Johnson ------------------Guzan--------------------
I'm guessing so. They usually pick up when the lineups are announced. That gives us something to be angry about
Yup; @AutoPenalti usually does the honors. Bile, anger, and personal attacks are what keep this forum running. Now I'll see you a$$holes at game time.
If we play a real 4-3-3 it will be a pillaging not seen since Christopher Columbus set sail for the New World. We can play a 4-5-1 bunker-press-counter cycle but we can't play an attacking 4-3-3.
After all my anticipatory anger against JK and a flurry of posts putting him down, I need to calm down, forget about JK, and hope that our veterans will somehow deliver a swan song and beat El Tri.
El Tri isn't on fire either. They couldn't beat Trinidad (twice), they couldn't beat Guatemala, they needed poor calls to beat Costa Rica and Panama. I expect an ugly game, that could go either way. Winning ugly games against Mexico is what we do best
Hopefully. I wasn't that impressed with them either in the Gold Cup but I confess that their game against Argentina got me impressed, especially when compared to our dismal performance against Brazil. Sure, they were both friendlies, but they were similar in the fact that we were both preparing for this game, and both facing the big South American powers, and while Brazil humiliated us, Mexico almost beat Argentina! And arguably, Argentina is currently better than Brazil, so...
after the olympic loss today, if the US loses to mexico, Sunil wont have to fire Klinsmann, the team will do it for him.
