I think you're right- Parky's probably at the end of the line as a player, and I want to see him in the FO myself. But nobody in back has his game-reading atm, not LGP or Franco or Pogba, or Miles. Red can fill in, but he's needed at DM as well for depth.
I could see Parky taking over for a coaching gig. Hell, I’d give him the reigns of Atlanta United 2 probably right now. That team needs all the help it can get.
FWIW, Miles is obviously not starting versus Mexico tonight. Starts off his MNT career on the bench. Also, the all red unis with the blue socks is an awful look.
Alas, game ends 0-3. Steffen was really poor with his distribution and his back 7 didn't help. I don't recall Miles being a direct part of either goal scored while he was in but the defense didn't stand out at all, either. US lacks skill at central midfield and speed at striker. Morris did fair when he was in but his touch tonight was lacking. Really can't stand the fact Tata chose to coach Mexico. F***.
Guzman starting for the US in tonight's friendly vs Uruguay. 0-0 in the 26'. Miles on the bench to start.
Miles has been called up to replace an injured player. Pins and needles until he gets back healthy. He's young and he needs the callup, but damn, this is a risk.
Miguel Almiron scores his first goal for Newcastle today, bagging the only goal of the match as an injury-plagued Magpies beat Palace.
It is funny how beloved Almiron was for Atlanta United. I know I still want to watch Newcastle games, not just for Yedlin, but for Almiron.
Not an active roster Stripes player, but Miggy on the pitch for Paraguay at Copa America. Currently trailing Bolivia 0-1.
CONCACAF Gold Cup kicking off for the US in a few minutes. Robinson gets a start. Guzan and Bello on the bench. Guzan likely the #2 or 3 these days, so he may not see playing time.
All told a fair night for Miles. Played 90', they pitched a shutout, and he had no glaring mistakes. A miscommunication in marking on Haiti's first good opportunity but after that he was recognized by the announcers with some timely interventions and solid defending.
Bello joins Robinson in the starting XI against Martinique, who, if I heard John Stone correctly has only 1 professional player on their side. (Most are part time players, it would appear.) It's 0-2 to the US @ 39' and Bello has played a part in both goals. Made a run to receive a long diagonal ball, then fed his trailer to send in the assisting cross for the first. Then stayed alert during pressure in the MQE box to get the turnover that led to goal #2.
Well at least Miles can get on the scoresheet for the nats. He's had all sorts of opportunities for United.
I'm not sure if Bello has a real serious shot of being involved once qualifiers start, he's probably better suited for the next cycle, but Miles is certainly playing for the chance to be involved. He's done fine, but the next games are gonna be decisive. He's competing with Zimmerman, and I don't think either have outshone the other yet.
