I'm just going back and listening to episodes from 2010. It all still applies. "This team will not make the playoffs . . . technically, we're only 10 points out of the playoffs. But technically, you need to score goals to win." "At this point, one point is a victory for this team." "You can't get shut out at home. How many home shut outs do we have? 5?" "It's one thing if you don't have talent..but people in the stands were trying harder than DC United Thursday night." "[DC is] on pace to obliterate MLS records."
I haven't listened to those guys in years. They were just so horribly boring. As I've said before, if you added them all together, you still wouldn't have one personality between them. It is kind of the year that never ended.
I gave them a try but like I said they spent 20 minutes talking about what they were drinking. They lost me at that point so I never found out if they had personality or not. Unitedmania was DC United fans, just like me sitting around talking. I would interact with them while listening.
Black and Red is too agreeable, whereas Unitedmania was full of (playful) conflict. I've listened to a half dozen br podcasts and haven't heard one dissenting opinion. Unitedmania never sugarcoated a crap team, either. That suits my sensibilities.
I need a UnitedMania post-World Cup qualifying debacle review show. And I'd like it to be extra angry and irrational.
Filibuster is the kind of thing that explains why we’re not in the World Cup. How we can amplify and leverage mediocrity for meager profits and reject alternative perspectives. The sterilization of soccers fandom
I dunno, does being a real asswhole count as having a personality? Big hit like flop falling from a tall cow's ass onto hard ground?
The UnitedMedia podcast coming back on air made my day. I can't tell you how much I missed the guys. It's great to have an INDEPENDENT voice talk about DC United. Keep it going! United and the US Nats are coming into a time of potentially massive change in the next couple of years. This will probably be the best time to follow DCU since the late 90s. During the show, there were so many great memories looking backward and a ton of interesting threads going forward.
I had a long drive today and got to listen to the show. As one of your two fans, I appreciated the shout out. Also, we're gonna be needing more shows.
First time I listened to them. Fair and honest criticism of how the team and players performed. Disagree with their assessments of DCU's roster improvements spending.
