I'd feel better if "as many as it takes to lose" was a choice. I believe this team has yet to show how low they can go
No, I'm a charitable albeit irritable kind of guy, I'm hoping young Harkes gets one so it'll take 2 to do it. The sole vote for 2 is mine
As a Minnesota resident I feel obligated to share if anyone is traveling. Coincidentally I'm moving back to the East Coast on that same weekend so I won't attend. Will be busy cleaning, packing and cursing how I'll never again move for the rest of my life. If you're on the fence about attending, I recommend not attending. TCF is pretty shit for soccer. The worst turf in the league, shitty sight lines, no roof etc ... Wait until 2019 and attend at the new stadium which according to renderings will be twice the stadium that DC is building. But if you are traveling, this time of year Minneapolis is glorious. Make it a whole weekend. Try to stay downtown. Convenient rail connection to airport and stadium. If you're an active person, Minneapolis has a world class city park network. Just south of downtown you can access the chain of lakes with miles of bike lanes, jogging lanes, swimming beaches, boat rentals etc ... On the East side of Lake Calhoun is Uptown which is the hipster capital of the upper Midwest. Great cafes, restaurants, shopping etc ... For night life Minneapolis has an insane choice of live music with at least 12 venues. The most iconic is First Ave which was where they shot the movie Purple Rain. If you're into performing arts, Minneapolis has the most theaters per capita after NYC and 3rd overall after Chicago. Everything from experimental companies to African American companies to cabaret etc ... The most famous is Guthrie Theater on the north bank of Mississippi. Other daytime stuff to do would be the Walker Art Center which is a pretty mind blowing interactive modern art museum. The farmers market is popular on weekends on the West side of downtown. For pregame drinking just head to the stadium area. It's on the University of Minnesota campus which is adjacent to Dinkytown neighborhood which is full of bars. On a typical night it's a little too overrun by coeds with fake IDs for my taste, but on game nights the neighborhood is overrun with soccer fans.
Nice sell, too late to sublet your place? I'm looking for cooler summer climes that don;t end up ass deep in snow before the hurricane season is over in St Pete
I've actually seen a few Minnesota FC shirts and decals around D.C. Slightly less than DC United but more than any other team. Kind of weird
Technically Manchester United is Fake United Part I. DC United is Fake United Part 2, 3, 4 - ? Then come Fake United Atlanta and Fake United Minnesota
Lake is named after James Calhoun, a former vice president from South Carolina. The name is actually pretty unpopular because Calhoun was a pretty fanatical advocate for slavery. Each lake in the Minneapolis chain of lakes has a unique identity. Lake Calhoun is the one where you need to wear sunglasses in the summer because it's overrun by eye candy.
Actually, it's John C. Calhoun, the VP from South Carolina, but I discovered (thanks, Wikipedia!) that his name was attached to it because he had Fort Snelling surveyed when he was Sec. of War. I am pleased to say that my aunt, the family genealogist, says we are no relation.
Your description of Minneapolis in the summer was spot on. One of my favorite destinations for a business trip -- except in the winter. Minneapolis and Chicago are my two favorite Midwest destinations -- everywhere else there is tied for last.

Minneapolis is one of my fav US cities, almost moved there. Has a great beer scene too. but uh ... so yeah... game... .. Bill come back please..
Nice, you hit up my deli Kramarczuk's. That neighborhood is like a Little Poland. Also worth checking out Ziach's, Sikora's and The Polish Palace ... Unfortunately Nye's Polonaise Room which was the iconic Polish bar in that neighborhood closed last year. You can still get drunk to live polka music at the Palace though ...
