Lol no because this year's mls playoffs are shitting all over money ball as a feasible way to build a winner. I've come to the realization that our organization has a losers mentality, and we're pretty much losers. also, this academy is horseshit. So what if they produce three people out of 2000 that can step on the field for one of the overall worst teams in the league, like, ever. It's a scam. trump university with free kicks. I would guess they care about making money from tuition because I'd bet my pajoy rookie card that shit ain't free. think about this, if any of these players in the academy were reaaaaalllly reaaaaallly good (no offense Derrick Jones and Austin trusty, i bet you guys are top notch) like, a difference maker that would make us actual contenders, would they be playing in the philadelphia union academy??? Imagine selling the wife on that one? Dad "Yo babe, you know that team in Chester that ********in sucks at soccer? " Ma "lol yeah the union, i heard they were gold blooded af this season" Dad "yup , that's them ! let's send our boy to their academy so he can learn how to play at a Ken tribbett level at an early age" Mom- "holy shit get the checkbook" Parents of the year right there. we're ********ed, burn the whole thing to ground, piss on the ashes and salt the earth so no other soccer academy can grow there.
McGann came on in about the 70th minute of the 5-1 demolition of Turkey. He played left back, surging forward often in a wing-back role. On a lofted corner kick taken from the left side, he drifted laterally from left to right, deftly settling the ball to take a one time volley only to hit the corner post. Typical Union fail. Close the Academy, burn the pitch, we're doomed.
Can't decide whether this is more or less exciting than pfeffer at hoffenheim I also just read that the academy has about 32 plus students, at $28,500 per year coming to the academy for tuition. so, give or take a million per. seems like a good revenue source to start buying some players.
McGann came on in the first half as an injury substitution in US 3-0 win over Brazil in the final. Played center back. Almost scored again on a set piece. So he has played LB, CB and midfield in the tourney.
I've found Ayuk biggest fan as I triggered him with "Ayuk needs a green card or gtfo " 820785667110223872 is not a valid tweet id Also, if this is one of you y'all need to pull it together
He takes up an international spot, which are valuable now that we have a GM who shops overseas. Previously they were chips to dole out to get operating money. His 90 minutes of ineffective senior team time, lack of trust from the manager and depending on the formation, third at best at his position. I'm not sure why people are so high on him.
He's also only 19 and on a cheap salary. For his age, he has shown the ability to perform in this league and the potential to be a strong player here. In the only game be played this season, he was responsible for 2 or 3 of our 5 shots on target, and he is one of only two attackers willing to run at defenders and take them on with a dribble. His 2015 stats were roughly on par with Ilsinho's performance this year while being younger, cheaper, and a kid getting accustomed to a new country. I'd rather play him over Ilsinho since he has room to develop. It is shortsighted to expect a 19 year old to be a key contributer. In comparision, it took Fabian Castillo (who joined the league at the same age) a couple of years to break out as a top MLS player, and he was on a DP contract.
The Ayuk talk is irrelevant about whether he is good or he once created 2-3 shots. The current roster needs improving. Any argument there? Earnie is trying to field the best team in 2017, but with an eye to the future. Ilsinho > Ayuk today. Herbers is more valuable than Ayuk today and as GA, free. If Simpson shoves Sapong to the wing as a late sub or vice versa, Ayuk doesn't see the field. So what we have here is a depth chart where 1/7 of the international spots for the Union are occupied by a Bethlehem player. This was the issue with Anderson as well. If Earnie gets that CM or CB, it's more than likely an international since they passed on the available MLS retreads. And if I'm betting, I'm not betting Earnie moves the guy he just brought in for the kid who tore up the Thai third division. It ain't personal, it's business.
Is Ilsinho a couple 100k better than Ayuk? If the question is squad building, should we be paying $400k+ and an international spot on a guy who put up two goals and two assists? Ayuk can only improve while Ilsinho will only get older. Smart squad building would favor Ayuk over Ilsinho and use the extra cash on another player.
TIL that Eric Ayuk Mbu will be forever 19 years old. But seriously ... Ayuk could possible improve, but what's to say he hasn't peaked? Maybe THIS Ayuk is the best Ayuk.
