Nick & Lyle Lanley would probably get along perfectly! I've sold monorails to Brockway, Ogdenville, and North Haverbrook, and, by gum, it put them on the map!
Very few players live in Chester and most of them have a commute to home games anyway. But I agree with you, that I think the only thing that will happen in the new location is games, with everything else being unified in Chester or YSC Academy. Question: If we now have two teams training in Chester, does that mean more parking lot space needs to be converted to training grounds? Won't they need more space, and a bigger locker-room, gym, etc.?
The Union is converting a building on the property (The Annex I believe) into a 20K SqFt Training facility and Team Office Building. Two fields, one for each team. Is that enough?
Well yeah, of course the players are commuting to PPL Park already, but my understanding is most players live in either West Chester/Philly/Delco.... your talking 20-30 minute drive, which is much more reasonable... driving an hour and half to get to your home game still seems crazy to me, even if it's only once every few weeks. Best case scenario for a lot of the guys on that team would be something like living in Conshy, and that'd still be over an hour drive to Bethlehem. (not to mention a less than ideal drive to Chester each day for practice)
No one expects the players to live in Chester, come on. There are two fields and they are adding an annex to house a training facility. Worst case the train at separate times. They could, and should, work the second team out of Chester bro.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-15491600 At least they don't have to fly three hours to their home games
Making it more like "planning to plan to make it official. Soon. Or next year." And so, like other MLS clubs, the Union have set the wheels in motion to launch and operate their own USL team with Sakiewicz telling MLSsoccer.com that he’s “confident it will be executed in the 2016 season.”
So long Harrisburg City Islanders from Joe Tait to playing Pedro Ribeiro out of position...we never really cared. *plays Amazing Grace on bagpipes*
When they took an attacking player from their parent club and made him a defender. Yes, the Union did it with Wheeler, but this is our feeder team deciding how to best develop their parent club's players. In the past I've equated it to the Phillies drafting a stud pitching prospect and the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs trotting him out as their starting catcher.
How do you know that they didn't do that at the request of the Union? I mean Puff'n'stuff Hackworth only made lineups with smalls up front and talls in the back...
I think you just inadvertently found out Hack's secret calling as a school photographer. He may be more successful in that role.
There is the problem. Even though there was a Union/HCI partnership, I don't see it as something akin to the Phillies/Iron Pigs ... like, at all. Union would loan players to the feeder club, and yet they'd ride the bench. That's some quality, valuable experience they were gaining. At least Bethlehem Steel will provide a better opportunity for fringe players to get play time.
