So yeah, not the most star-studded show what with the shows last month and in a couple of weeks (GSP gets a knockout in the third round, BTW), but still worth checking out, I think...

    LIVE MATCHES
    * Dan Henderson vs. Rich Franklin
    * Mark Coleman vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
    * Alan Belcher vs. Denis Kang
    * Jeremy Horn vs. Rousimar Palhares
    * Marcus Davis vs. Chris Lytle

    TAPED MATCHES
    * Alexandre Barros vs. Martin Kampmann
    * Antonio Mendes vs. Eric Schafer
    * Thomasz Drwal vs. Ivan Serati
    * Tom Egan vs. John Hathaway
    * Denis Siver vs. Nate Mohr

-- Both Franklin and Henderson could really do with a win here.
-- Mark Coleman comes back at 205. Should be interesting to see what he has left.
-- Davis vs. Lytle could be a fun fight.

FYI - the Countdown show for this one wasn't going to be aired in the US, but DirecTV picked it up - it'll be on Channel 101 at 7 tonight.

Top two matches look good, but it's overshadowed by the other two shows this month.

I am excited about this card even though, as scaryice said, the other cards are more glamorous. The main event is pretty interesting (hoping Hendo takes it) and I can't wait to see Shogun who is hopefully getting back to his top ten level. Coleman is older but man, he is in shape - should be a good one too. I also want to see how Dennis Kang will do in his fight.

    Marcus Davis vs. Chris Lytle

[result]-- Both guys have pretty much that they want the Best Fight Bonus. Hope they go after it.
-- The Dublin crowd are awesome with the songs.
-- Close first round, give it to Lytle for staggering Davis early.
-- Crowd is up for a fight tonight.
-- Both are throwing bombs early in Round Two.
-- Lytle got the best of Round Two as well, though it's not one-sided at all.
-- Good third round. Brown probably outboxed Lytle enough to win the round, but not the fight IMO.
-- Davis by split decision. I can't get too upset that - it was close the whole way. All three judges had it 29-28.
-- Good start to the night.[/result]

    Alan Belcher vs. Denis Kang

[result]-- Been looking forward to seeing what Kang can do stateside.
-- Awesome Johnny Cash tattoo on Belcher's arm.
-- Nice groundwork by Kang. Belcher's keeping up, though.
-- Kang was the aggressor and wins Round One.
-- Kang was winning Round Two again, but starts to gas a bit.
-- As such, he's slow on a shot and walks right into a Guillotine Choke.
    -- Belcher by tapout. Wow.[/result]

    Jeremy Horn vs. Rousimar Palhares

[result]-- All Palhares BJJ, all the time in Round One. Dominant.
-- Horn makes a fight of it in Round Two and damn near gets an arm triangle. More Palhares dominance before it. Give it to Palhares and Horn needs to finish.
-- Palhares starts Round Three with a German Suplex.
-- Palhares starts to run out of gas, but Horn didn't have enough in the tank to go after it. Good defense by Horn all the way through.[/result]

Taped match bonus coverage - Tom Egan vs. Frank Hathaway

[result]-- Egan's from Dublin and this crowd is into him. LOUD chants for him.
-- He's in way over his head here, though. Hathaway's in total control on Round One.
-- Hathaway gets full mount and hooks in and rains down elbows. Egan has to tap in Round One. Crowd didn't like that one.[/result]

Mark Coleman vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua

[result]-- Vintage Mark Coleman - he starts out fast with a takedown and Ground & Pound.
-- Also vintage Mark Coleman - he started running out of gas which allowed Shogun to come back with jabs, knees, and some evil-looking low kicks. Round One to Shogun.
-- Coleman has nothing in the tank in Round Two - he's begging to get knocked out. Rua goes to town, but starts to gas, too. Round ends with Rua having Coleman tied up in knots with an uma plata, but doesn't really go for the kill, instead seemed to be catching his breath. Convincing two-round lead for Rua.
-- Both guys are equally gassed to start Round Three. Coleman actually dominates most of the round, establishing good ground dominance, but can't seal the deal. They get stood up from a Rua trying to knee to a downed Coleman, and Rua slips in enough jabs to stun Coleman. More Rua punches ends it with about 25 seconds left in the fight.[/result]

    Dan Henderson vs. Rich Franklin

[result]-- Henderson throws bombs in Round One and has Franklin in trouble early. Pretty even after that, but give this one to Henderson.
-- More of an even Round, but Henderson still did more IMO. Franklin has all the gas in the world, but I don't think he's quite as good as Henderson.
-- Round three slows down a bit. With 37 seconds left, Henderson attempts to parry a jab and instead jabs Franklin in the eye. He's given two minutes to recover and goes the distance. I'd probably give the Round overall to Franklin.
-- Henderson by split decision. I don't get the judge that went for Franklin at all - 3 Rounds to none, no less.

Not the best PPV, but nowhere near the worst. If you're free tonight, go check out at a bar.[/result]

I enjoyed this fight the most. There was a lil' hate element going here. Not like Wandi vs 'Page, but one nonetheless. Also, I was fascinated by Shogun's omaplata attempt. Coleman didn't even try to move:

Also from another lasting memory from this card, was the way Palhares was throwing around Jeremy Horn. I almost felt sorry for Horn.
