All set for the draw coming soon : Draw procedure • The 35 entrants consist of 30 nations given a bye to this round and the five preliminary round qualifiers. • Seven groups will be formed of five teams apiece. • Each side is placed in one of five seeding pots depending on their coefficient ranking. • A ball will first be drawn from Pot E to determine the team in the fifth position of Group 1. Then a second ball will be drawn from Pot E to decide the team in the fifth position of Group 2. A third ball will be drawn from Pot E to define the team in the fifth position of Group 3. The same procedure is repeated until the fifth position in Group 7 is filled. • Then, the seven sides in Pot D are drawn into the fourth position of each group, starting with Group 1 and ending with Group 7 (in numerical order). • The same procedure applies to Pots C to A, taking into consideration the respective positions within the respective groups. • Any restrictions will be confirmed ahead of the draw • Matches will be played home and away from 11 September 2017 to 4 September 2018. April 11 matches Group 1 Kazakhstan 1 - Estonia 0 Latvia 1 - Georgia 1 Group 2 Albania 2 - Greece 1 Malta 3 - Kosovo 1 Group 3 Moldova 0 - Israel 0 Lithuania 2 - Andorra 0 Group 4 Faroe Islands 2 - Turkey 1 Montenegro 7 - Luxembourg 1 *Turkey were the highest ranked team in the preliminary round(#32) and failed to qualify. Moldova is the lowest ranked team to qualify(#39).
Groups drawn today: Grp 1: Kazakhstan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Wales, Russia, England Grp 2: Albania, Belarus, Poland, Scotland, Switzerland Grp 3: Northern Ireland, Slovakia, Republic of Ireland, Netherlands, Norway Grp 4: Croatia, Hungary, Ukraine, Denmark, Sweden Grp 5: Faroe Islands, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Iceland, Germany Grp 6: Moldova, Portugal, Romania, Belgium, Italy Grp 7: Israel, Serbia, Finland, Austria, Spain
Cakewalk for England and Germany in groups 1st and 5th, 3rd and 4th are quite strong groups, likely to produce play-off teams for last spot Group 6th is most even, while groups 2nd and 7th both having favourite team although still in reach of 2 other teams.
England, Germany & Spain should have an easy time qualifying. Group 2 should be Switzerland with Scotland in 2nd. Group 3 is tough; likely between Norway & Netherlands. Group 4 should see Sweden through with Denmark in 2nd. Group 6 is the toughest group. Belgium, Italy & Portugal. I'll say the group winners will each be: England, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Belgium & Spain. The four playoff teams should be: Netherlands, Italy, Denmark & Iceland.
With group 6 being potentially the most-even of all the groups, I have trouble believing that the runner-up from group 6 would qualify for the playoffs, considering they'll likely drop more points to third and fourth than runners-up in other groups. Similar things, though not as likely, in group 3 and 4. I'm betting the playoffs are the runners-up of 1, 2, 5, and 7, with potential from runners-up from 3 & 4.
the way Ewa Pajor played her last few times for Wolfsburg, Poland might just have a chance this time around to at least make it to the playoffs(as Scotland has under achieved as a unit). I mean last game, Pajor even out performed her own team mates Hansen & Harder(who I consider currently the two best players in the world right now). Hopefully they'll get the PSG GK this time iason board! why would they put twice, two higher rated teams in a group(GRP 3, #11 Netherlands & #12 Norway/GRP 4, #6 Sweden & #15 Denmark) while lower ranked, #16 Switzerland & #19 Italy are the highest seeds in their own respective? Is it because the lower ranked team balance out each group? That be a shame cause the lower ranked teams will never make much headway anyways, yet some of those 2nd seeds, might just be caught with a high injury count when they got to battle in those wild card games
The criterias they use when seeding teams are: Euro 2013 (qualifiers+finals) 20%, WC 2015 (q+f) 40% and Euro 2017 qualifiers 40%. No weight on Algarve, friendlies or FIFA ranking. http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/Download/competitions/Draws/02/43/50/03/2435003_DOWNLOAD.pdf

got to point out a few sad things ~~~ the Danish players union has yet to make an agreement with their soccer federation. They refuse to play until a deal is brokered. Unfortunately if they don't show up for tomorrows game against Hungary, their team will be disqualified for the rest of tourney. another bummer, or at least for me, the sort of empathy or low crowds that came to saw their home side of Germany & France(in their friendly) Germany's attendance at just barely 3K, which got to be the lowest for at least this decade. France's crowd didn't look that much better. Even over at youtube, nobody posted full replays of these matches, that's a first ever for the German game
