Games in Group 1 and 5 today Russia and Belgium will fight for the runner-up in Group 5 spot, a draw would eliminate them both. If any winner in that game, they will probably need a huge win by like 4 or 5 goals to have a small chance of qualifying as they both lost heavily to France the group winners. A reminder of the current situation : Teams through to the finals : Czech Republic ( host), Norway, Ireland, France Current best runner-up : Danemark 3 pts GD -3 ( results against 1st and 3rd of groups only)
Group 5 results France 0 Greece 1 Russia Belgium 2 France finish top Belgium runner up with 3 points and -1 goal difference and therefore overtake Denmark for the best runner-up place.

We now turn to the U19 Elite Round with Group 4 starting today. The six group winners and the runner-up with the best record against the teams first and third in their pool qualify to join hosts Northern Ireland in the finals from 8 to 20 August Finland v Ukraine Scotland v Republic Of Ireland
Group 5 is played in my neck of the woods. Italy v Serbia 3-0 Norway v Sweden 2-2 Sweden equalized on what was the last touch on the ball in the match. Not even a kick-off followed.
That draw is a good and bad result for both teams because if they win their next two games, the winner will go through and the runner-up will have a good chance to qualify as well.
Group 4 Finland 1 Scotland 2 Ireland 2 Ukraine 0 Scotland win the group and goes through to the finals Group 3 France 3 Portugal 1 Netherlands 5 Slovenia 0
The draw for the groups in the Euro U17 finals have been made: Group A Czech Republic Germany Spain France Group B Republic of Ireland Netherlands Norway England The tournament will be held 2-14 May in Czech Republic.
couple of there friendlies; USA 4, Russia 0 Ellis going what she does best, beating up on tomato cans! At least she goes back to the straight 4-4-2 but not to the diamond mid, which worked so well at the WC. She's sure crazy about Pugh & Lavelle/or doesn't bring anybody new into the fold. As for Russia, they loose their 4th straight, Hard to believe they made it into the Euros, Highlights; Canada with an impressive win over Sweden. The Swedes only brought in their stronger fwds in the 2nd half, but most their regulars were in there, that's why surprised at their lack luster effort, as Canada wasn't playing their press at full speed. Herdmann that he's turning his squad into well organized passing team, His one weakness might be depth as Fleming was having an atrocious game and really needed to come out,He only sub 3 players, one of them coming in was the baby faced Huitema for Sinclaire in the 88th minute. Huitema's tall though, she's about 6 th, even though she's only 15 year old. Wonder if she plays basketball? lol. Here's the full game; there;s no commentary, and you got to go to the 40th minute mark for the start of the game.
U19 Group 2 England 2 Denmak 0 Czech Republic 1 Turkey 2 England win the group and join Scotland and Northen Ireland
U19 Group 5 Sweden v Italy 2-0 Norway v Serbia 2-0 Andrea Norheim scored both Norway goals on a night with many wasted chances.
Group 3 France 4 Slovenia 0 Netherlands 5 Portugal 0 France and Netherlands with 6 pts each. Netherlands only need a draw to go through. France need a win or a draw with a lot of goals scored like 3-3 or 4-4 because the Group 5 runner-up is likely to get 7 points ie 4 points in the best runner-up race as well as tons of goals. Group 4 Ireland 1 Finland 3 Ukraine 0 Scotland 5 1. Scotland 9 pts 2. Finland 6 pts Finland have 3 points and 4-3 in the best runner-up race. Unlikely to be good enough. Group 2 and 5 finish today, Group 3 finishes tomorrow Group 1 played at the end of may, Group 6 in June. Basically the Group 6 runner-up will know what target to hit to finish best runner-up.
Not good at all. To have groups spread out in different weeks could be acceptable if winner or top 2 qualified automatically from each group, but when you have to depend on results in other groups, it's just not right.
Group 2 England 7 Czech Republic 0 Danemark 5 Turkey 0 1. England 9 points 2. Danemark 6 points Danemark have 3 points in the best runner-up race and 5-2 in the goal difference. Finland are therefore eliminated.
Sweden 0 Serbia 2 Italy 2 Norway 1 I was not expecting those results at all after the first batches of games 1. Italy 6 points 2. Norway 4 points +1 overall goal difference For the best runner-up place Norway have 1 point and are out
I have to correct you, Italy 2 Norway 1 ! A last minute victory with a PK away vs the home team, yeah ! (and by the way, 8 YC, 4 for each team..) Let's hope that somewhere would be possible to watch some highlights....
I shouldn't be shocked to see Norway mess up this at home, but after seeing the first half on stream, I still am. They looked totally in control and Italy barely threatened. This Norway team have had a string of poor results recently, also before these qualifiers. The coach has been criticized for months for underachieving with a strong group of players. Most notably have been their abject second half performances, once again today against Italy. I haven't seen any of Italy's goals as I watched the senior team simultaneously play Switzerland instead. I switched back to see the final seconds in Sarpsborg and couldn't believe my eyes. (I'll post a video of the goals/highlights if I find something, @gricio61.). What I can't understand is Sweden losing to that Serbia team. How is it even possible? Sweden won't be at either U17 or U19 Euros this year.
Very lame team performance, where is the fighting spirit?? We need a new coach, this guy has run out of ideas.
#Under19 Femminile 🇮🇹I gol-qualificazione per l'#Europeo 🇪🇺 delle #Azzurrine contro la #Norvegia 🇳🇴!L'articolo: https://t.co/j3zL9MNUU5 pic.twitter.com/ieJ8j6nPaK— Nazionale Italiana ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (@Azzurri) April 11, 2017 Just the Italian goals from yesterday. Opinions on the penalty?
At full speed, it looked very harsh to me. As per the rules : "Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with the hand or arm. The following must be considered: the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand) the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball) the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an infringement touching the ball with an object held in the hand (clothing, shinguard, etc.) is an infringement hitting the ball with a thrown object (boot, shinguard, etc.) is an infringement" I have no doubt the ball hit the defenders' arm but I see no intent at all, the way she turns her body. Also you can see the referee booking the player straightaway which means, she saw a clear intent as per "handles the ball in an attempt to score a goal (whether or not the attempt is successful) or in an unsuccessful attempt to prevent a goal" A huge decision with big consequences. We will see if Karoline Wacker is selected for the finals in Northern Ireland.
Not because I am Italian, but I think that the referee called it rightly. It looks that the defender touches the ball with the arm while trying to pulling back it and moving the shoulder forward...if had been touched with the shoulder I would had some doubts, but that way... Anyway, thanks for the video !
