Well, the Italy-Denmark clash was good for Fiorentina, not so good for Juventus, but at least Bonansea managed to make it a draw. A win will be needed in the second leg anyway, but it's not an impossible task. It's a shame I missed the game and I didn't find highlights yet, 'cause I'd like to watch Bonansea's goals.

Looks like Katoto is back after her nightmarish U-20 WWC. She's young, she'll go past that experience. :coffee: Although I wonder what her chances are of making the Senior Team in time for next year's WWC. We're going to see...

Wow, apart from Barcelona's loss, this looks to me like the most surprising result of the day! Just 0-1 and Harder saved the day? Is Thor/KA so good or Wolfsburg is basically still in pre-season mode? :cautious:

Why upset? BIIK were favs to win at home, same way as Barcelona will be in 2nd game. (other question - can Barca score 2 or more without reply)

Last years BIIK home games in CL round of 32
    2014/15 2 - 2 vs. Frankfurt
    2015/16 1 - 1 vs. Barcelona
    2016/17 3 - 1 vs. AGSM Verona (1-1 away and advance to 1/16)

Look at some BIIK players - Darya Kravets (Ukraine NT star), Charity Adule (Nigeria NT) and Chinwendu Ihezuo (Nigeria U-20 star), Alina Litvinienko (Kyrgyzstan's huge talent, youngest goalscorer in international football history), Fazila Ikwaput (Uganda NT rasing star) or veteran Gulnara Gabelia (Georgia NT) - quallity mix of expereience and youth, more than decent roster all around.

Thor/KA-VfL Wolfsburg highlights: the camera is very far from the pitch, so it's very hard (next to impossible) to recognize the single players.
Anyway Wolfsburg hit some woodwork, but Thor do the same in the last action: Pernille Harder's goal in 1st half from a CK action ends being the decider:

Juventus-Brøndby highlights. After second Danish goal you can hear Juventus coach Rita Guarino saying: "two goals taken in the same way"; that's not exactly true, but in fact both saw a player being basically free at the center of the box who received a cross from one of the sides.
I guess Barbara Bonansea's goals are really worth watching. :coffee:

It was the day of braces for Italian NT players: Ilaria Mauro made it a 2-0 for Fiorentina vs Fortuna Hjørring, though. These video highlights are from Fiorentina's official website, I hope they're not geo-blocked out of Italy:

Well, I guess it anyway can be considered a legitimate upset, given the names Barcelona's roster deploys, incuding Player of the Year 2017: talking about that, I can't see Martens in Barça's line-up for the match; is she injured? :cautious: (she was regularly on the pitch for the recent NT game vs Norway, though).

...or rather it proves that big names (or better known names) aren't necessary equal with best available quality. 4th year in a row Kazygurt players are going toe-to-toe at home with top UEFA clubs and it's still considered an upset?

Heh, I liked comentary on Bonansea 2nd goal , indeed Alberto Tomba wouldn't done this better

I think the pitch over there is a great leveler as well. All the French teams that played there said it was a potato field. Logistics also is important, both PSG and OL chartered a private jet for those trip because going via normal airlines, there is no direct flight and connexion are not quick at all.

This is true: a friend of mine recently went to Kazakhstan and she was complaining at how long the trip was, since she had to stop in Moscow for some hours anyway.

She was not listed at all for that game, which is odd. She might have a knock--hope it is nothing more than that; we may know tomorrow (the 26th) when these teams play the second leg. Of course The Netherlands has a huge NT playoff game coming up in, what, little more than a week, so if I'm Dutch coach Wiegman I definitely don't want my star player running around on a poor pitch against some team intent on breaking ankles, though I wonder if she has a say in the matter.

Yes, the Kazakhs should put an immediate call into Olso--the global home for artificial turf companies! Watch the ball bounce 5 feet high!

According to the report posted by always reliable @Patchouli on Spanish League and WNT thread, Lieke Martens played the whole game this week-end, when Barcelona won the derby vs Espanyol by 3-0. So, if she had been injured, it had to be a minor hit. :coffee:
Or maybe she had been one of the first players to suffer from the food intoxication that happened in Kazakhstan.

Atletico with the upset over ManCity! =-D
Also glad to see Barca survive. 2-0 would've also sufficed on away goals.
Denmark and Italy split their paired series.
.....I got very confused looking at the Wolfsburg scoreline there for a while before I looked into it. I thought Ella wore "Masar" on her jersey last year with Rosengard, but I guess she's switched to wearing "McLeod" now that she's with Wolfsburg?
