At the moment, I only found these highlights; the spelling of French names by German announcer is atrocious , but they have all of the key-moments: The goal denied to OL in regular time, Popp's ejection and all the five goals. I, in fact, look forward to the chance of getting highlights soon, but I am more inclined to rewatch the full extra-time, than the whole match (or, at match, skipping to some epic moments of the regular time, like when Bouhaddi clashed with Bronze and remained on the pitch with a broken wrist).
the Courage will play in Miami, in a mini tournament sometime in July vs Chelsea, Man City)both made it to the CL semi finals) & PSG(the 2nd best French team & who tied Lyon in recent league play) if the Courage win that tourney, than there might be more valid talking points, but to be honest, as the one Swede that rules the Equalizer message board, puts it ever so bluntly "when it comes to woso, the Americans act like Socialists, the Europeans act like filthy rich, Capitalists!" thus the NWSL system of drafts, trades eccedra was suppose to balance the league rather than build one all, powerful rich team like Lyon. But critics have countered by saying/; why force stars to move against their will to a place they don't want to live? Hence this could of been the reason that Christen Press & Morgan Brain moved to eh....cooler grounds than the steam bath called Houston, lol btw............anybody knows what's happened with Morgan Brian? she's suppose to be playing for Lyon, but wasn't even listed yesterday in their roster
She was dropped yesterday like 5 other players. OL have a big squad. Basically Pedros preferred having Abily on the bench than Brian. And I think it was the right choice. Brian, Petit, Bruneau, Malard, Laurent and Thomis did not make the final 18 squad. Some of them were injured, others just dropped.
She was injured. He said that Morgan joined the club in January after three months of having not played. Said she got back on her feet, then got injured, and got injured again. For that reason, she has not been able to practice or play matches, which is why she is not part of the group.— Kieran Theivamanoharan (@KiersTheivam) May 23, 2018
Seems it was Bouhaddi's hand that broke. Merci pour vos messages 👉🏻 fracture du 5ème meta gauche opération lundi 🙏🏻 💋🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 pic.twitter.com/mbrTtDmRs7— Bouhaddi sarah (@BouhaddiSarah) May 25, 2018 Not sure she learnt too much from that, she tried to break her other hand on Bronze's (evidently very hard) head after the match: @BouhaddiSarah @LucyBronze pic.twitter.com/5LBdZRFDqh— maya mans (@mayamansOLF69) May 24, 2018
Hot damn! Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the first time the UWCL champions will play in an international friendly tournament since the very first mobcast cup, right?
No idea. If NC gets matched up against Lyon, I only hope they can keep the scoreline respectable, since I'd wager a good number of NC players will be gone for the ToN.
not to mention Miami's 90 plus degrees/100% humidity weather will pretty much get under your skin. Best for the Courage to schedule the game right at noon/usually before the usual late showers come in to cool things off, lol but why would Ellis pull out Courage players now? Versus her highest ranked opponent this year/ #2 Germany at SBC, she barely used Courage players, If you look; she started Dalhkemper, but she was just a replacement for the injured Brun, Williams got to come in the 90th/Dunn didn't play at all https://us.women.soccerway.com/matc...hebelieves-cup/united-states/germany/2705238/ it would be a lifetime opportunity for the Courage to play Lyon, who on paper, could be the best team in the world, club or NT! and if promoted right, could finally be an opportunity to conquer what seems to be last frontier for woso, the pro/club level, instead of the fringe; low pay/low attendance/ low TV ratings that club soccer has become(compared to men's).
Can't believe the OL coach waited till '95 or so to put in Van de Sanden--good grief. Yea, it looks a great move after she wreaked havoc and set up 3 goals but shocked she sat on the bench for that long.
Well, the move tactically made sense in that moment, since Popp had just been sent off, and no-one can say if Van de Sanden would have actually been as much effective in regular time as she's been vs tired legs and 10 women in extra-time.
She wanted to play on, still saved everything Wolfsburg came up with except for the deflected goal (and she did use her left to stop shots, just didn't use it to pick up the ball) and between her teammates doing the job and Popp getting sent off Lyon probably were comfortable enough using the last sub to bring on Abily instead of preparing for a penalty shoot-out. I'm not sure if they'd have replaced her even if it looked like going to penalties, as she'd probably have wanted to do that as well due to being a goalkeeper (keepers are insane) but when she initially wanted to stay on and it looked like extra time keeping the tactical flexibility of the additional sub probably made sense.
